Just keepin' it real.
Two strokes are fun, sure. I own one. A 1983 Cr480. But it's a VINTAGE BIKE. Just like all 2 strokes will be soon. Get over it.
All this talk about 2 strokes being superior is a mute point. You guys sound to me like the old steam powered car guys who talked shit about internal combustion engine cars when they started to take over. " It'll never last", Those things have too many moving parts", I don't understand them, so that frightens me". Just a matter of time before steam power takes over again! "I have plenty of wood to burn in the boiler, why would I want to buy gasoline to burn???

You see my point. To not accept the writing on the wall is to get passed up by technology. Figuratively and literally.

Your analogy doesn't hold water when a 250T makes 48hp and a 250F makes 38hp.

It seems kinda weird that many here will post that they are dino's, out dated, bla bla bla, but they will come right back and say the 250 2 stroke is faster and will beat the 250F. Ha Ha

You're an ass who has squandered whatever credibility your message had by displaying that fact in this thread. Congratulations.

I never said anything about like power per c.c. You don't get it. You're comparing apples to oranges.

My point is, 2 strokes are inefficient, smoky, smell, messy, loud, and outdated.
They burn oil.
They have been replaced by newer technology. They are yesterday's news, just like the steam powered car. Or the 2 stroke powered car!

Chrysler two stroke auto engine from the '90's:

www.allpar.com/neon/stroke.html

Emissions were a problem but the concept was hardly irrelevant and with $3/gal gas might be worth re-visiting.

You obviously aren't real intelligent when it comes to this subject.
They may be smoky, smell, messy, and outdated,
but they are far from INEFFICIENT or LOUDer than 4 strokes. They are more efficient and quieter.
learn something about these before you go spouting off your mouth.

2 strokes are inefficient? There's a term that engine guys use called "Volumetric Efficiency". The VE describes how efficiently the engine pumps air. The reason why a 2 stroke makes more power compared to the same displacement 4 stroke is because the 2T is a more efficient air pump. It also weighs less and cost less to make because it is relatively simple. From a pure engineering standpoint the two stroke is a smarter air pump design.

Another uneducated fool just showed up to the tread. 2 stroke inefficient? Tell me why your 4 banger need twice the cc to get the same results? ahaha Smoky? Bombardier achieved better consumption and emissions with their DI system than any 4 stroke out there. Loud? 4 stroke are way louder? WTF? How old are you? 12? LOL

I would like to note, that GNC in Texas except I believe for the pros, is cc vs cc for 2011. That is wonderful news. Can't wait to ride this year again. We need a map like on MSNBC or Fox when the voting comes in. This state has turned red, and if we go over here, this state is still a blue state. :-)

So magazines will really have no reason not to include the 2 strokes in the shootout, because most amateur areas are going to cc vs cc. We need to see which bike is the best bike in the class each year... May the best bike win 2 or 4 stroke.

Cgoo Cgoo Cgoo, I love it, I love it, I love it.

Why isnt this the case in any other motorsport?

They are screwing the dirt bike crowd, simple as that.

I agree it should be moved. Posts like gotwings send it the other direction as well. It's still not gonna surpass the other post of "Hey DC how about the 2 strokes" one a while back. I think it hit 27-29 pages before 3 breasted women, tin foil hats and helicopters started getting posted and sent it to the deleted posts, never to be seen again. LOL.
What's this? 24 pages on this thread and 29 or so pages on the other two stroke thread?

Nope, there is no more intrest in two strokes anymore they are dead! Whistling

What if we could power a two stroke with a cleaner burning fuel such as ethanol, or natural gas!? that would offset the BS argument of the two stroke burning oil, and hell doesn't a double in size four stroke engine burn more fuel in the first place!???

I keep hearing how few people still like 2 strokes and how only a few on Vital still cling. It looks like the petition is well into the 3600 range now. Every survey ever taken by anyone including three by KTM, the 2 stroke is the preferred motor in HS, MX, GNCC... And every time I see a 2 stroke thread it goes 20-30 pages with many dozens of people chiming in and enough views to be categorized as a demographic all in itself!. All the brand new YZ and SX 2 strokes are sold out. Cant get em. SOLD. The numbers at the tracks I go to are compounding year after year and yes, the fast guys are on them.

... How many would sign a petition for forced jokes? I dont see a handful on here defending them. forced joke threads go 5 maybe 6 pages? I can buy any brand handicapper over three model years at half price and one at 60% off.

Why is this? Can anyone besides an industry person paid to say so or an amateur who can't pull a clutch shed some light here?

We have given DC a lot of good arguments. I'm sure some people in charge as well has taken notice about the lack of sales, and the interest in 2strokes. As things will get worse and worse they will have to react sooner or later. Active riders grows up and starts familys, when there's less riders around to bring their own interest to their kids it will be a quick downhill until our sport is very small in numbers and influence.

We have time on our side. If we don't "win" the sport is the biggest looser. Without a fanbase everything except SX will disappear.

Excellent way to summarize this whole argument. Which is why I couldnt be bothered arguing or trying to convice the powers that be to change.

So long as someone makes me a 2fiddy 2 stroke, I couldnt care less what happens to the industry, be that MX Sports or the big 4.

These are amateurs, tracks etc. We need to focus on magazines doing full shootouts including everything the amateurs can buy and ride in a given class. This way they know which bike is best for them. The pro thing is futile. Move on and start talking about the magazine shootouts if you wanna get the population on board.
We also need to send letters and talk to promoters that are still using the Pro rules when they are running amateur races. Get the amateurs to the 99.9% like the guys on here keep saying is already done, but isn't true. get it to that, and we'll see change. Get it so 99.9% of the amateurs can race cc vs cc, and have shootouts that say which bikes are best of each class, and we will see if the Pro's will have to follow suit. I say they will.

I think we've nailed it down that 2-strokes can only help AMA Pro racing. Even MXA and several other magazines have noticed this, even though some try and delude the motocross public otherwise.
