All I've seen of Prado in America is starting up front and fading to mid pack.  Why would that change starting in May?

This boy is going to surprise you. One of the most talented drivers in the world. Easily top 3.

Because he's done the same turnaround before. We've seen it all before. OK maybe not the riding around with a hand off the bar blocking roost - that was next level last year. Other than that we'Ve seen it all before. And we've seen the turnaround. So why would he not be able to do it again?

Have you watched the races? All??? Is the podium mid-pack now?

I've watched this Prado video a few times now and each time I come back to watch it, I wonder if I'm going to get a different impression.  He's certainly not "flying at the test track" in my opinion.  He's a top guy and I expect some podiums from him.  But this video isn't showing me blazing speed...

Feel free to tell me I'm wrong...

I think he shows it sometimes.

for example, watching practice last week when the track was dry, holy shit. You can see the talent. Effortlessly ripping through turns. It's kinda like watching Christophe Pourcel ride hard.

I think there is a bit of a difference though because before Pourcel stopped caring, he could rip through the pack and charge late. Prado just has never showed he is anything more than a hole shot and sprint guy

His riding style doesnt make him look fast, hes not over revving the bike like most US riders do.
Just like jett, put him on a track on his own he doesnt look fast either.
Put barcia on that same track on his own and you would say hes the fastest by far when in reality thats not the case.

He's clearly in learning mode and playing it safe for outdoors. If a podium is not in the picture he logs his laps and learns.

The different between pourcel and prado is that pourcel raced in the 250 class and prado in the 450...

Prado just has never showed anything.........I know that many americans think mxgp is an amateur series,,,,,,,, but still,,,prado won 31 races in the 250 and 2 titles and 18 races and 2 titles in mxgp.......

I have always said MXGP and AMA are basically equals.  On a given day, and given track, both are capable of winning.  But, it’s no secret, there is an edge in the AMA today and would likely take 7 of 10 today…. I think Prado will be good, but he’ll also be surprised how bad ass the top 4-5 AMA guys are.

I attended the Budds Creek round last year and was able to watch Jorge closely. Even riding at less than top speed, his style was smooth and controlled. People give him shit for that day, but forget he finished 10th overall, a result a lot of pros would give their left nut for.

As a former MXGP champion I feel most people had/have higher standards and expectations from him.

He's got the speed, he's got the talent.

He's going to have to deliver this MX season to shake the criticism he's received.

A lot of weird takes in here lately. Webb hate, and now Prado is going to be lucky to top 5 outdoors? And judging his speed compared to Deegan based off a video of him riding blue groove during the week?

You base your opinion on one pre-season race that was a dust bowl…and yet don’t factor in anything he has done since…no you're not biased at all…if we go by your logic Mookie should be leading the points based on Paris…

Looks like he was just factoring in actual achievements by current 450 riders.  Just among those guys mentioned there are 7 450MX titles, and two guys who won their respective classes at the most recent MXdN.  Should we give that more weight or a regional 250SX title against a relatively weak field?
