The problem with collision is regardless how good it works (especially with MX bikes) once you go online with people all over the world on non dedicated servers with pings all over the place (not to mention terrible bandwidth some people have) there will be problems. This was one of the best improvements from MCM1 to MCM2 with the no player collision option for Multi player and by memory I was one of the guys to push for that option in MCM2 beta testing.

I'm not sure why Rainbow removed that option since MCM2, with bikes flying around all over the place online theres always going to be problems.
You used to kill it at MCM2!

How have you been?

I'm not here to whine about the game like some of these people. And create this big list of personal wishes that sound cool, but are kind of dumb.

My biggest hang up is, why try so hard to reach out to the "core" guys, when you've basically said you have to cater to the casual players because they're the ones that make up the market? Don't start this big community site, and create all this hype on MX forums if you aren't going to include any of the requests. All I've been hearing for years is people wanting realistic bikes, realistic tracks, realistic career modes, realistic features. Realistic anything.

Reflex was a step in the right direction in minor tuning and minor bike physics. Besides that, same stuff. I don't have a real problem with relfex at all, other than the touchiness. Besides that, great game.

Matter of fact, some of you guys crack me up. You LOVE Unleashed so much (as do I) but really look at the game. 60 mph corners, 4 second air time on triples. Relfex was more true to life than that game ever was.

Damn, I've contributed to the mess....

Fully agreed.

But the core moto heads, will play the game longer than any casual fan!...i mean we have guys on here who still play supercross circuit, that game came out in 1998 or 1999...would you rather have booming sales for a week and have people stop playing within a month or would you rather have the longevity of a game that brings joy to people for years?...i personally would go for the longevity knowing that its a great game..rather than a turd in disguise hoping for high-sales...

Look at grand tursimo 5.. its being praised by core car fans!..and its going to be played for years to come.
I didn't say they should or shouldn't appeal to the mass market. Just saying that they've pretty much laid it out that they have to if they want to make money. So what if dude's are playing Supercross Circuit from 1998? How much money has now defunct 989 sports made of those guys playing it for 10+ years? No more than the kid that picked it up once, found it to be too real or boring, and had it at the top of his garage sale box. That's just the way it is, I'm not sayin it's right or wrong.

Same here. More tracks would have been nice, if they'd kept up with releasing them every month or so that would have been cool. Maybe just install a patch to fix the tough-block situation or something.
-But this would have been too good to be true haha

I no longer get excited for the release of these games from THQ. Pumped out over-hyped games for years and do listen to core mx players. I always hope its a big improvement but we are always let down.

It's pretty cool to see a one-eighty logo on there.

i may be alone here, but i think i have the best motocross game ever planned out in my head.

take mx vs atv unleashed... tweak the pyshics just a tiny bit, to get rid of the "floaty" feeling, update the graphics, for the first time ever, add a useable rut system w/ terrain deformation and make different terrain react differently (ie, sand, mud, hard packed, loam) find a way to make "scrubbing" work correctly, add lots and lots of sx and mx tracks, get rid of all the atv's and other vehicles... and bam... best mx game ever. (well, atleast best one since MCM2) my opinions of course

The only thing they need to do is release the PC version along with the 360 and PS3 versions. Also, add a track editor please!

Wow, I'd forgotten how terrible EA Sports Supercross was. I liked the game format, but the actual game play was horrible. The developers did a pretty decent job trying to capture the essence of the sport with realistic race formats, tracks, riders and announcers, but missed the mark completely in terms of game play and physics. I don't know if I've ever been more disappointed in a game...yes, I'm counting Untamed, as well.

Two words to sum it up: Epic. Fail. I have to admit that I'm incredibly disappointed. They were an incredible 17 hours behind their deadline to launch the site and release all this amazing info. Finally, the site launches and there is absolutely zero new info, and 4 pictures that look terrible.

For instance:

Note the following:
-The rider's leg is going THROUGH his radiator shroud
-The spectators in the back look like they took about 15 seconds to digitally generate
-The tire... what's going on with it?
-"Blaze" on the fork gaurd (this I don't really care about so long as it looks like a Honda)
-There are no oddly colored parts (ie: pink rims, purple plastics). This suggests the customization is, once again, not even up to par with a game they released in 2006

Other things to make note of in other pictures:
-Sweet fairy tale castle?
-It doesn't look like they have the new Tech10's
-There are butt patches, but by the look of things you'll probably have a handful to choose from instead of creating your own
-You can choose to run no number (woo...)
-They spent more time making the riders' faces look good than anything else
I think these pictures are more likely artist renderings or early concept graphics and not actual game play.

is everyone on here too retarded to use the Reflex sticks?? they are frickin AWESOME and are what make the Reflex the best and most realistic motocross game to date. Is it perfect?? no. Is it Amazing?? yes. And is it progress?? definitely.

3 problems only for me
lack of tracks
lack of DLC
lack of track editor

everything else far exceeded every expectation i had.

Note: i dont play online - so the online play is neither here nor there

Motocross is a fucking niche sport, we are lucky to have a game, why the fuck is everyone bad mouthing the only company producing high quality progressive motocross games, thinking outside the box and creating something unique. FUCK people, grow up

It says you can compete in the nationals and claim a MX title!!

Whether they are real tracks or not idk.

It also says multiplayer and vehicles TBA

You guys may want to listen to the one guy who doesn't work at THQ, and has a job to tell the truth as a media guy... and has played the game. He might know something.

We've done a lot of things different this time around, and as soon as you get your hands on the controller you'll feel the difference.
1/19/2011 9:06am
I would hate to hear you guys actually talk in real life. I doubt you'll analyze your life more than you analyze 5 pictures and a recent video of the beta version of the game.

Have the bikes sound been updated? The 450 was ok, the 125 sounded like it needed a top end rebuild, and the 250f sounded like a choked out 110. Hopefully they have, the 125s and 250f's are made to scream! haha I liked Reflex for the record, a great base to grow off of.

Yes. They were recorded on the bike, using actual riding conditions, rather than dyno sounds.

from gamespot..

In other words, THQ is aiming to keep the game alive long after release with a DLC schedule of far greater breadth and frequency than what it has pulled off in the past.

isn't that the same thing rainbow told us before reflex was released? what did we get, 2 sx tracks and 2 mx tracks? WOW.... 10 tracks for each style... so this means we will see more this go round?

i'll believe it when i see it
