Dutchmen MX Park is the only track near me running an open practice (I don't race anymore). I've watched some youtube vids of recent track days and like the layout. Saw that their website mentions that they are working on improving the dirt. Anyone here have experience with this track/is it worth a 4.5 hour drive? Do they prep/groom the track during the day or is this a place that really lets it break down? Any feedback on the place would be appreciated.

I'm from Hopewell! Right next door. Don't live there anymore but yeah Central NJ moto is practically non-existent and it's hard to find spots to ride. Private tracks and sand pits are your best options locally.

I sent you a DM. Give a shout. I'll be back in the area this summer. Let's ride!

At that drive length, I would go to southwick. Field of dreams and E-Town not cutting it?

E-Town isn't running and Field of Dreams has a race this weekend (I don't race anymore). That aside, I am looking for other places to ride. E-Town is great, but the same track gets tired after awhile. Field of Dreams is a great facility, but I'm not a fan of how the track is built. The last time I was there the jump faces were unnecessarily steep. That's great if you are young, full of piss and vinegar, and are itching to hit some booters, but I'm damn near 40 and don't need to be 30ft up in the air anymore. Vet track was fun, but calling it a "vet track" is a bit of a stretch. That thing was built for 65s! Have not been to Field of Dreams since the new owners took over so idk if any of that is still true.

I feel you, I am picking up my wheels from the shop because I came up short on 3 different jumps last weekend. I ride a 250 and ride it pretty well, but you have to be really on it to do every jump on that track on a 250. An older guy knocked himself out bad trying the new table in front out of the corner. I assume he was on a 450, gave it too much juice, and slipped off the face.

My 5 year old and my wife love the vet track.

I would explore the numerous sand tracks in south jersey...

I am in the same boat this weekend.. no practice at FOD or Etown, so will be just wrenching on the bikes over the weekend. Since Etown has been cutting back on number of practice days, I have also been looking for another track (I am in North Jersey). I am 66, but I like the bigger jumps and steep faces and can't stand the way they have started building the jumps. Agree with you on the FOD "vet" track.. 2 laps on it and I am bored out of my mind.  Both FOD and Etown have been working hard on the tracks, but I don't like what they are doing with the jumps.

Etown has now removed every tabletop and replaced them with either rhythm doubles or put obstacles before the jumps to try and trip you up to make it hard to get over even small jumps. They are trying to slow everyone down, but that is not the way to make a track safer. They have put so much crap going into the woods section to try and make it hard to get over that tiny double. They have turned it into a supercross track with 3 long rhythm double sections. Of the remaining little tabletops they had, they dug out the middle so it will hurt if you come up short, like they just did to the former double-table after the finish line. It was much safer before with the same air time, now it is a true triple. I miss their old track designs of years past.. only really fun jump left at Etown is the staircase.

FOD has changed up most of their jumps and added a few more. I was there this past Wednesday. I like some, but others not so much. The idea of making very short, long tabletops with shallow jump faces and placing them right out of a corner forces you to seat bounce and hit the jump with everything you got to clear the distance. I just find that slamming a laid down jump face to jump 70-75 feet just a 18"-24" feet off the ground is too much work without the thrill reward for this old man. FOD now has 4 jumps like that. They still do have several fun jumps left, so they are not all gone like at Etown.

As I said above, there was a really bad crash on that new table. I get track owners are trying to slow people down, but what really happens is people just twist their 450 harder right before the jump.

The only track in South Jersey that I'm aware of is Field of Dreams and it definitely is not a sand track. I'd love riding sand so any suggestions are appreciated.

I also saw a guy.. about 20ish, crash bad on the same jump at FOD. he was being tended on the ground by the track crew, but didn't look too serious. To make matters worse, the water truck was working its ass off watering all the jump faces all day without stop. Thing about those 2 new tabletops in the front, is if I roll the first, the second one is pleasant to seat bounce, but if I jump the first one cleanly, I hit the second "stubby table" so fast and immediately that it gives me an unpleasant whiplash feeling. Really not pleasant or fun at all.  Sorry to hear about your wheels.

yeah, first one is a reach to get over, then you have to slow down for the second one. I feel like the idea behind the track changes was good, it's more technical and not as wide open. But the execution was a little odd.

Good intent, but bad execution. Hope they change it up.. it just doesn't flow and isn't fun and I am there for the fun and exercise, not to become the next Jett Lawrence. Smile  I guess we need to provide them some feedback.

Is that piles of large gravel in those corners, or am I seeing things?

Breezewood Proving Grounds looks really good as well. I’m pretty sure I'm going to check it out before Dutchman.

Breezewood is its own culture all together.

You'll see what I mean. Make a trip. Bring your swimming trunks.

Dutchman has been good every time I've been there.  We are so fortunate to have so many excellent tracks in central Pennsylvania.  Doublin Gap, Happy Ramblers, Tomahawk, The Oak, Evansville Supercross, Sleepy Hollow, Breezewood Proving Grounds, heck, even Budds Creek is only 2 1/2 hours away.   I took these pics Dutchman Track1.jpg?VersionId=sDuXbsotjhqvEb8FLajWKC5Cc QSIXDutchman Track3at Dutchman MX.

Those pics are great and the track looks prime here. Hitting the freshly ripped deep track first thing in morning is one of my favorite things about riding. That freshly ripped dirt is your canvas and its easy to put the bike wherever you want if it isn't sloppy wet.

I’m in NJ, ETown is where I do most of my riding, and crashing lol

However, a few hours north there are two tracks I travel to, 508 international and MX23

MX23 is open tomorrow 1pm to dusk I’m heading up there!

Used to live in CT and hit 508 and MX23 pretty regularly. Haven't been to 508 since they changed it an put in those huge doubles in the back. Always enjoyed that track though and appreciated that they had flaggers on all of their jumps.

Stopped going to MX23 when he started putting up political flags/signs all over the property. The layout was fun, but there are so many trees lining that track. Definitely smoked a tree once there and broke my knee pads (no injuries). Also wasn't a fan of them allowing people out on the track/having very few flaggers (maybe 1?).

E-town is really solid though. Great to have a track like that so close.
