If someone says I’m going to kill you, your kids, your pets and your family and has the means to do it but chickens out the words meant nothing?  Bullshit. Hold the loser accountable.

You mean like this guy.... Jay Jones, a Democratic politician who later became Virginia’s attorney general.

In 2022 private text messages (revealed publicly in 2025), Jones:

Fantasized about shooting a Republican politician, Todd Gilbert.

Wrote a scenario where “two bullets” would go to Gilbert.

Also made disturbing remarks about Gilbert’s family/children.

No, he was talking about trump threatening to wipe out an entire civilization on his personal social media platform

You said that making a deal and negotiating were  not related .   That I confused the two even though  it is the definition of the word  negotiating.

While I'm glad he hasn't killed off an entire population, why even say that if everybody knows its a bluff?  Unless he's just trying to buy more time so they can get more troops in place to follow through with that threat, or maybe they are just trying to locate the current leader, track his movements and plan out another extradition and in that case what is said wouldn't matter .  How is showing the person You are negotiating with that You are lying and not to take Your word  going to help make a deal?  You are right, I do not understand the benefit  of negotiating by saying stuff in bad faith.

I give people the benefit of their argument or position being legit. But then they say or do things that make it look like they are just trolling . That hurts the trust between me and whoever, and my willingness to engage and trust that the person is saying things they believe. It seems like a very basic premise of human interaction.

One thing I liked better about many other presidents is how they listened to their advisors and not the leader of a foreign country that convinced them into going to war with Iran . While also ignoring more advisors who told him that Iran would do many of the things they have done.

There's a long list of things I have disliked or not agreed with that past presidents have done too.

Show me where I said that. That's why nobody takes you serious. You outright lie about what people say. Or, you just don't understand what you read. Which is it?

I can step in:

Agreeing to a deal means negotiating is done.

Negotiating means you haven't reached a deal.

I’d bet insurance companies dig into who a person is more than we know. Data is a big deal and they want every bit of it they can get

Agreed. Data is the most valuable resource in the world today. Corporations like insurance companies rely on advanced tools to collect and aggregate data, with a focus on managing risk, improving profitability, and minimizing claim payouts. They are incredibly good at this.

Our data that we provide, often without our knowledge or understanding, is being used against us more and more. As they say - if you're not paying for the product or service, you are the product. Our digital footprint goes much deeper than many of us can comprehend already. The obsession with building AI datacenters is to further fuel this evolution. I am optimistic that people are pushing back and demanding more guardrails and transparency. Better late than never.

Speaking of guardrails, I think I probably failed to stay within the ones intended for this particular thread discussion.

Diplomacy...The point of it is to develop relationships and manage interactions between governments, primarily to resolve things peacefully. Is the original argument that diplomacy does not, and cannot work as intended? So now we need to go and conquer everyone? How do we feel the latter has played out thus far? Blowing bridges up is another way to burn diplomatic bridges. It'll bite us eventually. That said, we have some really old and failing infrastructure here at home. We have a lot of our own bridges that could certainly use a rebuild...between both places and people.

Thanks. It’s one of those projects I don’t think I’ll ever finish. If I’m headed to California to ride in the desert, it changes. If I’m riding woods, it changes.   Keeps me busy though.

Crows and, squirrels are cool. They make for good distractions. Which is why I posted Casper in this thread.

Gonna be taking a break from this place. I realized, I don’t interact with irritating people in my personal life. Scrolled through three different threads yesterday. First page to the last page. Arguing. Deleted two of my own threads. Not interested in feeding Roo Roper’s and, Baristas. I’d be a hypocrite in doing so… ✌🏼

I'm glad You understand that the 2 are related now.    I still think its  pour negotiating to make threats that You have no intentions of ever following through with . That was the real meat of what I was posting about until You decided to sidetrack things with the silly argument about the use of a word in the present and past.

Having a trust between the parties negotiating may not be needed, but it  sure helps things out. If You show the other party that You are never going to follow through with the consequences You propose, it puts You in a position of weakness.  It takes away the incentive to come to an agreement if the other person knows the threats being made are empty. If Iran knows Trump will never follow through  with his " maximum position" its not really a maximum position.

I keep seeing reports coming out that  pretty much everybody in the Trump admin involved with the plan to attack Iran were against it and warned Trump that Iran would do most of what they are doing. And for some reason he thought he knew better and went with his gut and buddy from Israel's advice instead. The people that Trump himself picked,  Vance being one of the people who were strongly against it.  It makes me think that they are getting out ahead of things for some reason. Its not  normal for his people to put out opinions that go against his in such a unified way , one or 2 here and there, mostly after they are no longer working with him.

SO  I guess we agree that trust helps when somebody is negotiating or having a conversation ( don't worry that I'm confusing those 2 things, I understand they are not the same thing)?  I haven't been lying , but it really seems like Your not understanding my posts, I do suck at writing though so I don't blame you. Trying to keep stuff short and get my point across  is not a strength of mine.

It seems like we agree that lying hurts a reputation  and as a result might just make it harder to negotiate?  Since You seem not to trust anything I say,  how would that impact the way You negotiate something with me?  Think it makes it more or less likely that we could agree on some sort of deal? I personally would do things differently or not at all if it was an option , if I couldn't trust the word of somebody I was trying to work out a deal with.

My last 2stroke was a 01 CR 250. I love that bike.  I had an 00 CR250 too. Got a CRF450 after. This is a customers bike that I've had in my shop . It was a Blackfoot Honda he bought back in 03 from the team.  There are bolts missing from the rear fender , but its super clean and has all new OEM hardware for most visible fasteners.  It has the original riders name decal on the frame, I think it was Blair Morgan's bike. I can't remeber  for sure if it was his ,  2 was the riders National  number in Canada.   Its pretty much stock looking , but the frame is gusseted and has extra welding . Cool bike to look at.

I can't remeber  for sure if it was his ,  2 was the riders National  number in Canada.   Its pretty much stock looking , but the frame is gusseted and has extra welding . Cool bike to look at.

Nice bike. Jean Sebastian Roy was one of my favorite riders.
Those Blackfoot motors were awesome. Nice thing about them is you can have Tom build you one.

A couple of nice looking Hondas in here. Nice rig @The real Sasquatch.

@Chance1216 I am somewhat surprised to see you aren't rocking some woody graphics.

Fresh PC suspension on my red machine. Huge improvement over stock, particularly on the forks. Front end was way too harsh, mostly on the pressure springs/initial stroke.

Nice bike..

First thing I did was get the suspension revalved and, sprung correctly. Mid stroke harshness of the forks and, a shock that squatted too much sucked.  Though I love Woody, everyone seems to use those graphics. What’s on there now are 89 HRC graphics from Throttle Jockey. First race I ever went to was in 89 with my grandfather. He smoked Camels and, drank Coors so, they seemed fitting. The OEM 01, seat cover didn’t match the graphics or plastic so, I had Throttle Jockey cut a one off 96 seat cover seat cover to match the plastics better. For some reason UFO uses a color that in the sun, is very reminiscent of the 92 stock plastics. Almost pink. Kinda orange.

I have 3 other full sets of plastics and, a few Plasticwerks plates put away in case I get bored.

Oh look! A squirrel!!!

I like where your head is at my man. I call what you are doing value engineering. As they say "you never see a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrist's office"

Channeling your inner Henry David Thoreau...

Henry David Thoreau's essay, originally titled "Resistance to Civil Government" and later known as "Civil Disobedience," argues that individuals have a moral duty to disobey unjust laws and governmental actions, prioritizing conscience over blind obedience.

I hope you gents have a lovely weekend. Unplug from the machine, ride some machines. Break and/or fix some machines. It helps ensure the machine doesn't break you. Shit, maybe insurance should be paying for our motorcycles, they make many of us here less of a risk in the grand scheme...I know I deal with people much more diplomatically when I am riding moto and/or MTB regularly, just ask my wife.

EDIT - True patriots follow their own conscience.
