I don’t agree that the size of a sport is related to the appeal of its announcers… i’ve heard golf and NFL announcers

It almost seems counter intuitive but I want my play-by-play guy to have a moto background. I don't care so much about all the years of experience he/she might have calling other sports. I don't know if Larry Maiers ever swung a leg over a motocross bike but the dude was core moto anyway and he could shoot the shit with Hannah one day and Lechein the next.

Meanwhile when it comes to the color/analyst guy, needs to be able to string together a sentence or two in addition to whatever moto-credentials he might have. Case in point....JT$ "only" has a German SX championship to his credit but I could totally see him in the booth. Ping would make a good analyst as well. I don't care how many championships you've got, if you're dumb as an ox, you have no business fumbling through an explanation of something that just happened on the track.

Hate to break it to you but Diffey does have a moto background, so that’s not the magic requirement.

I actually thought RC was much better on the RDL broadcast than the night show. He seemed much more relaxed and natural.

RC’s better in every other format than the main broadcast. It doesn’t seem to matter who he’s sitting beside, so it must be the directing.

Yup. Football fans have been bitching about Cris Collinsworth since the early 90s, and that sport seems to be doing ok.

No one needs to take this as me being for the current broadcast crew (Will drives me up a wall), I'm just saying it's not them keeping the sport from going mainstream.

I think there’s merit to this. The director definitely  shots and you have no idea what they’re telling the in camera talent to do or say.

Nope, RC is just as bad wherever you put him. Check out Title 24...

“HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS AND GLASSES FOLKS!”. It was less polished but better than the current turd.

Pair Jerry Bernardo and Will together, she would be so confused to say anything. I did always enjoy Jerry. Jan Beekhuis seemed lost after the cut downs to him

The exaggerated excitement they force is awful. The only parallel to the broadcast I can come up with is a kids show.

"We need to explain this sport for new viewers" NO THE FUCK YOU DON'T. It's a niche sport, you want people to tune in? Then make it seem complex and interesting like the sport really is. That will make people do their due diligence.

But Mosiman plays the Piano!   Think of all the new Pianist fans we gained during that 30 seconds.  There were probably millions of pianists that accidentally paid for the app, then accidentally clicked on that race, and after forced ads, they accidentally skipped to that 30 second clip and could not shut if off after that, they are now lifelong fans.

I couldn't care less about the piano, but showing what the riders do with their helmets off is cool IMO.  It allows fans a better look at them and reflects their personalities.

The timing of that clip was terrible though, just like the boxes on the screens and going to Will at terrible times.

It's not like there isn't enough time to get these pieces on air befor or between "bikes on track".

I have never seen an interview during a play in the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, etc.

I'd also be offended if people said Will Christrien was from the same place as me.

Diddy crapping on about Roczen being only 1 point behind Hunter while he was in second, despite there being a graphic on the screen at the time that showed he was 10 points down. What a moron. And his "check this out!" really shits me. I'm an Aussie and I can't stand him
