... to me at least:

CRtwotwo Chad Reed
“@blinknac: @crtwotwo how about laying down a nacnac on the hot lap I keep hearing about the lame hot lap Saturday.”we need 75 foot triples

---

He obviously implies that the triples are not 75 feet. I know they used to be and were that way for a long time. I believe they are 65 now? 60 maybe? I was actually thinking about this while watching the first round (while at the same time being a bit disappointed in the tame whoop section...). Anyway, my question is, why were the triples ever shortened in the first place? Too risky? Did somebody get hurt? Broken KTM triple clamps?

It looked like the one right out of the right hand corner was 60-65. The other one looked like 75.

They all have to ride the same track, one rider or a group if riders shouldn't get to design it to their liking.

I believe his issue with the quad that year was the placement not the distance if I remember correctly.

Ya, didn't it have to do with a blind landing?

I think so, into a corner without being able to see the landing I think.

In case some folks don't know it is not uncommon for the powers that be to consult with a few riders after track walk or first practice for possible adjustments.
I know that Reed and K-Dub have made suggestions that they have listened to and the same goes with RC when he was racing.

What is funny to me about this is the fact that we all agree the reason Villopoto busted his leg last year was the sketchy landing on the triple and no one is saying anything bad about the guys who complained about it then.

Some folks just don't like certain riders I guess.

The triples are mostly 60 -65 feet once in awhile they have something bigger but for the most part they are a standard size.

Uhhhh no...

And the quad was closer to 85 feet.

AND Reed tells it like it is. At least he makes himself available for interviews and he isn't afraid to say what's on his mind.

Also, people should respect him for wanting to make things safer at times. Could've saved a few people from injury last year if the AMA (or FIM or whoever) listened...

SX tracks are no what they used to be ..hell at A1 Js7 was jumping the triple from the inside no problem....They need to start making tracks that separate the riders now everything is easy to Jump. Its MX/SX ...not Nascar.

A1 was way tamed down. Made for not so exciting racing. Hope Phoenix is built up and better.

Cryan Ryan breaking his leg had nothing to do with the landing of that jump. Reed was complaining about the landing (the one he smashed into) being too steep on the backside. He would have been just as short on a tabled out landing.

they have been 65 for as long as I can remember, except for the A2 throw back track and the atlanta quad.

The bikes have gotten faster, the suspension has improved, and the riders are better. Why they are still at 65 is beyond me

Because the size of the stadium floors hasn't gotten any bigger.

Part of what they can with the track layout is dependent on the space available at the venue.
