My best friend passed away from cancer about sIx years ago and  his CR500 sat on the side of his shed under a tarp for many years and it was a bit rough.

I did not want it to go to some squid as it was an awesome machine that Don luved so I purchased it from his widow and restored it down to the bare frame. I know he would have approved.

It was street legal. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Bike was a BEAST yet purred like a tiger. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Why donโ€™t you take that thing and come race the 60 open class at ACP?  Itโ€™s fun and safe track.   You used to race.  What happened ?

I've got the last 1993 500 National on VHS stuffed away in a box. Need to get that thing out and converted to a format I can watch again and share.

There was NO better sound than 40 500s leaving the gate in anger. Well okay, they were 500s. Maybe 7 or 8 were actually leaving the gate in anger, a dozen were midly pissed off, and the rest were just trying to get to the 1st turn without the riders getting spit off or knocked off by roost.

Ha! ๐Ÿ˜ I sold the bike as it did not seem practical to keep after doing test rides around the block and fourth and fifth gear wheelies were common!  Just barely smart enough to know if I kept it, my life expectancy would go down. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Besides I already had a Dualsport 350 that I luv.

I just wanted to do my great friend Don proud and did not want the bike to rot away underneath a tarp outside in Arizona  HEAT ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

Regarding racing, I haven't been behind a starting gate for probably over 15 years. At 67 racing balls out for a plastic trophy does not seem like a good idea. ๐Ÿคช

So I just like to ride in the desert with my buddies.

This is the single best sounding two stroke I've ever heard. It's jetted to perfection. FF to 1:08 for the good stuff.

I haven't had a Facebook account in Holy Shit, Six years. I closed that nonsense down in 2020.

Whoa, where did you find those pictures?๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I haven't seen them for years! My gawd this interweb stuff is scary!

And to answer your question, no it's not the same bike. That was Tina's 500 that she luved. Unfortunately I found out from a mutual friend, she also passed away from cancer years ago, she was one of a kind, they don't make many women like her......๐Ÿ˜ข

Sorry to hear about Tina.

For some reason when you posted those pics of that CR500 it reminded me about those bikini CR500 pics.  When I had first built Pitracer.com late 90s and it wasn't as easy to just "upload" files to a website I remember someone (maybe you?) sent them to me asking to put them on my site so they could be shared online.  I searched an old archive website folder I had and found them LOL........

Can someone explain to me why 2 strokes are alive and well in Europe, but essentially dead here for AMA racing? ๐Ÿ™„

We have a group of folks that aren't the smartest. It's wild we don't have a regional 125 series tied in with the outdoors. Instead we get amateur nationals that cost an arm and a leg. Very broken system.

If you ride a YZ250, you're in luck.

Because you have one promoter for SX (Feld) and one promoter for MX (DC). Both are paid by Honda.

Would be nice to have leadership that actually cares about the growth of the sport more than a manufacturer that makes exactly two bikes for moto. The 150f that hasn't been updated in almost 20 years is irrelevant imho.

Carson Brown is such a Badass! Don't know how he does not do better in the outdoors when he races.

I had new CR250's every year from 1987 to 1993. Those are some of the best bikes I've ever owned. Never had to do anything to them.
