In 2022, Eli and Sexton battled for the title through the entire MX season. They went into the last race separated by one point. Awesome year!
Sexton was unbelievably strong that year.
Eli handled the pressure well.
Sexton, not so well.
Sexton is slightly faster than Roo2.
Roo2 is mentally stronger than Sexton, and gets holeshots like getting out of bed in the morning.
Eli gets occasional 12th place starts.
Should be a fascinating season. Predictions:
* Eli has had some bad luck.
* Law of averages suggests that Roo2 will have some.
* Roo2 can't holeshot forever. Or can he?
We'll see how it goes..
Did you use AI to make this post?
Who is Roo2. I mean…I get it but…naw bud
Zero AI was used.
Roo²
As in Kanga-Roo2 (Hunta)?
It's been great so far. This is what people keep saying they want to see, not runaway wins by Roo1. Both Eli and Roo2 are just one bad race away from bombing out of the title. To me that is where to drama in this series comes from. To read the Friese post he could be the spoiler in this championship run.

Yeah I think we’re 1-3 rounds away from a Tomac 4peat like years past.
Hunter isn’t in front due to constant holeshots, yes he is a good starter, but he’s made plenty of passes, including on Eli.
Edit: only one more holeshot than Tomac.
Meaning he wins,or loses?
He only has two titles, no?
Eli should have like 5 sx titles at this point but has 2. He finds a way to lose more than he does to win.
And I want him to win
INB4 “don’t count Webb out”
😄 Not this year, Coop.
It just feels like Hunter's time. He's strong, fast, consistent, and smooth af. It's like David Bailey circa '26.
Such a fun season. Would like Kenny and Webb to get back in it.
I don't even think we have seen the best of Hunter yet. Him and Tomac are pretty close in speed, Hunter often faster towards the end of the main, while Tomac is usually better so far at putting the whole thing together. Tomac looks like the complete package on the KTM, but if Hunter ups his early race intensity and keeps this consistency he really could bring it home. Though when it comes down to the last round and only 2-3 points, my money would probably be on Tomac. I hope both of them stay healthy and don't have any bad races!
This. I wouldn't bet against Eli in tight battle.
Webb is cooked
Sorry to say it, but it's true. He looks cooked too. Tomac is a freak of nature to be doing what he is doing right now. Webb looks beat to me. Tomac looks very fresh and hungry.
Do you sit to pee?
Pit Row
Webb is done. Clearly, his other tactics can't cover for his lack of speed like they did in past years.
He'll now be shifting his focus to how he can get out of outdoors again...
This could go down to the last race and final laps. Hunters consistency and great starts will keep him in it. Tomac’s grit, speed and determination will keep him in it.
Right now, Hunters average start position is the main factor keeping this close. He keeps it up, he’s got a good shot at it.
If either were to have a dud race, I’d expect it to be Eli. He’s shown throughout his career that he does that a few times a yr.
I was happy with Eli to win the title. My pick was Hunter. Just saw something at Paris before before he went down and the year that he had. But I thought I could be wishful thinking. I would love to see Eli get another title.
I was having a bench racing session with my son and he is just so set like alot of people that its a forgone conclusion Eli will get this done.
But my point to him was (I think it's 11 years). 57 wins and somehow he has blown the title 9 times. Admittedly he wasn't a title guy right away. But regardless he is in weird space with the crazy amount of wins to only put together 2 titles. Stats would say he would throw this.
He does look damn good though. Hunter won the race in the first moto this weekend. Last moto you knew once they got to the lappers it was going to be over. Eli wasn't going to risk what almost was again after 2nd race. He just knows better.
Whoever wins (so far) its a hell of a season
A1: Eli 1, Hunter 4
SD: Eli 1, Hunter 2
A2: Hunter 2, Eli 3
Houston: Hunter 2, Eli 4
Glendale: Hunter 2, Eli 12
Seattle: Eli 1, Hunter 4
Last 3 weeks, this is what a 2-horse race looks like:
Arlington: Hunter 1, Eli 2
Daytona: Eli 1, Hunter 2
Indy: Hunter 1, Eli 2
We cannot let Hunter be called “Roo2” it’s way too close to Root, and that’s too much of a dick reference.. so stop it, now. Unless you hate the guy.
Now that we’ve taken care of that…
Eli isn’t showing the sporadic crappy rides this season, (yet..) he has a consistency going on that makes me think he’s the guy this year. Hunter’s stepped up for sure, but I’m thinking old age and treachery will beat youth and enthusiasm for the championship!
I feel like Eli is riding noticeably more aggressively this season. Feels like 5 or 6 years ago. I would enjoy seeing ET win this championship, but Hunter may very well have some input regarding that.
I love that Eli has gone head to head with so many different elite guys for a title. Dude is just so in it every year.
I'd argue he didn't blow the title in '23. Just a freak accident, or he'd have 3. But he'd also be retired, so less wins.
Except perhaps 2021. He seemed lackluster that year, no?
When you buy potatoes, are you worried that you are eating dick vegetables? Or go to A&W and have trouble ordering a dick beer?
