An interesting stat I’ve seen lately is Tomac has more SX main event wins than he has heat race wins.
It got me wondering if that’s typical of the multi time champions of the sport? I didn’t see heat race results on racer x vault so I’m not sure how to check it.
I've got you with my database. There are three riders with 10 or more 450 SX wins who have less heat wins than main wins.
Eli Tomac: 57 main, 52 heat
Ryan Villopoto: 41 main, 38 heat
Cooper Webb: 31 main, 21 heat
Doesn't Kenny almost have triple the heat wins compared to his main event wins? 😅 Do you have any data for the most heat wins by any chance?
Yup! Top ten in heat wins with their main event wins as well
Thanks!
Everytime I'll see more and more of Kennys stats in SX, him likely retiring without an SX championship just doesn't sit well with me.

Wow, K-dub 55-18, master of the short sprint.
I’m also working on building my own vault website of sorts using my db. I’ve created a lot of pages so far. Here are a few early screenshots including the rider profile page, season dashboard, all time leaderboards. Working on the functionality now before I start fine tuning the front end.
You should see what I'm working on.
I always like comparing stats/seasons or riders (not as much as Kaido though lol) and I'm always annoyed that I have to go through wikipedia, americanmotocrossresults, supermotocrossresults and racerx to get all the stats I want. This looks amazing and would be a total game changer. Please make a thread once you publish it!!
What are Davalos heat wins to main event wins?
Wasn't James's percentage of heats he won off the charts?
It certainly looks that way for Kenny, certainly one of if not the best rider to maybe never win a 450SX title.
What could be an also strange possibility is that Jett might not end up with more than 2 or 3 titles when all is said and done, but with all these guys retiring soon who knows he may rack up 5. But these two years of injuries before or during SX has hurt him.
29 heat wins (most all time in 250) to 5 main event wins
450: 98 heat wins in 127 starts (77.17%)
250: 23 heat wins in 26 starts (88.46%)
His three non-heat wins in 250s were 4th, 14th, 20th.
His 3 main competitors are 2-4 on that list too, so that would definitely skew his numbers.
But statistically, there are twice as many heats, that have half the amount of riders, which makes Tomac's stat even more impressive, because he has beat everyone, more times than he has beat half of the same riders , on the same day.
Should heat race wins (or top heat race finishes) earn a handful of championship points? Heat races sure would be more intense. Reward consistency? Might even put a small dent in runaway championships?
I knew Marty had a shit ton of heat wins lol he made out on some good bonus money right there 😁😁😁
My gut tells me this is a bad idea, maybe because if somebody was in a second Heat , they wouldn't have had the chance to earn those points over a competitor who was in the first heat. But I do like the idea of it because it would definitely help some of the riders who have better sprint speed and could possibly make the championship more interesting during dull seasons.

But again, look at the statistic there.
For 450, you race half the riders in the heat.
In 250, you only race half of half the riders, as the other half are riding the opposite coast.
So if you qualify 1st or 2nd, the next fastest guy isnt even in your heat .
The more i think about it, the more i think its time for 250 to stop being split. Way too many guys on rides that just dont deliver year after year but still keep seats because half a class is too weak.
I'd be curious about Hannah?
🧐Got to love our resident stat guru. 👍👍
Thank you.
Likewise.
Just imagine the records and championships KW would have if Carmichael didn’t exist.
Hannah has 44 heat wins to 27 main wins
I think one series for 250 SX would be cool, but I remember hearing someone say if they did that then most 250 teams would probably run 2 maybe 3 guys max instead of the 4-5 guys that most 250 teams, then creating less jobs for rider.
Thanks. Other than Webb and Stanton, he is the only other rider with three SX titles. Rare group with three or more.
I've been making big strides lately so I figured I'd reply back here and give you an update. Now mainly just working on polishing each page and getting the formatting dialed.
Just went live today! https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/moto-related/launch-new-sxmx-resultsstat…
This is awesome! Can you include P1 qualifying stats too?
Sure! I kept it in the timed qualifying era only so these numbers are from 2007-present
Roughly what’s the bonus for a heat vs a main event win? I’ve heard 25k vs 100k, is that 4-1 ratio consistent across the classes?
