I’m shocked. That I’m from a era that videos on YouTube from ama races around 2007 and later are so visually bad. You can’t tell if the rider uses alpinestars or fox gear.. and that was normal video wtf. How did i watched those races? Does Anyone know if those races are uploaded  except for YouTube that has good Quality? . 2007 video looks like stone age videos.

I got myself a worn and signed race gear used at hangtown 2007. But When I Watch the video. You can’t tell he actually wears it. So does somewhere online tv coverage still exist. Would like to make a personal wall collection with different riders through the years with photo or video combined

A combination of things, alot of that footage was probably recorded on a VCR from the TV broadcast, then at some stage converted to digital, maybe at 480 or 720p if your lucky, then add in the early youtube conversions all add up to a terrible unwatachable end result. The original source material is probably still decent but would be hard to get a hold of.

If Feld wanted to sell me complete supercross seasons from 1996 through 2009, scanned in / upscaled to high def... I'd pay whatever they asked.

back in the day Youtube was low resolution, eapecially for longer videos.  All the legit videographers used Vimeo

Who has the “master” footage of these mid-2000’s races at this point? Is there any hope to these being uploaded somewhere in their original resolution, or upscaled?

It sucks going back to watch a season from say, 2011, and the quality per race varies so wildly due to them being different YouTube uploads from different accounts.

There's a guy on X / Twitter that has been uploading races for as long as I can remember, he probably has them all

They are all on the piratebay from this dude.. he is a legend. I downloaded all the races from him for about a decade before international streaming became available a couple years ago

If you're interested, there's a great video explaining why this is the case. Long story short, the original footage was also "low quality" (480p) because it was meant to be broadcast live onto old school TVs.

Expanding on the points made in the video, this low quality footage was then recorded to VHS using non-professional grade tape and non-professional level recording equipment. Then it was stored for a while, probably in suboptimal conditions. Then it was uploaded to YouTube. The footage began it's life at 480p, then took a beating for a few years.

I found Some races with carmichael en steward to Watch those in HD would be so awesome.  But Here I found footage from 2002 and looks pretty good so its possible to upscale it
