Can’t wait 😣 that SS payment I’m going to get by the time I get there might pay my utility bill 🙂
If you're getting money back you're giving the government too much...
I’d much rather play it safe and get money back than have to pay. I have always thought of it as a savings account.
Are you guys talking about hundreds of billions saved like trump or hundreds of dollars?

I’m talking about income tax returns.
I haven't done my taxes yet for 2025, but I did pay mortgage interest for the first time in a long time, so I expect I'll get a bigger refund just because of that. It's really going to cloud the issue this year for me.
If you earn under 50k claim tax exempt. You will never be audited.
Been working for 25 years right ?
You don't want to owe the government anything and you don't want them to owe you. Both are equally important.
While this may be a personal preference for you, It hurts you financially. You're giving the government an interest free loan with YOUR money.. Money you could have invested or earned interest on throughout the year.
Technically you are absolutely correct. But to be honest , a few grand spread out over X amount of paychecks isn’t that noticeable and I’d probably buy pizza and stuff like that. This way it’s outta sight outta mind and when tax time rolls around the wife and I get a little bump. 👍🏻
Fair enough. If that extra money per paycheck would just get absorbed into everyday spending rather than saved or invested, I can't argue with that.
Yes sir
And just never file?
Single earner?
Thank you….. don’t get me wrong, the wife and I save and we have a few investments and are sitting nicely. About 3 months ago we sat with a financial advisor, he looked over our financial situation and told us on a scale from one to ten with one being the best (which I thought was strange 🤪) he said we were a one. We’re not loaded by any means, it’s not like that, but we’ll be comfortable when I finally throw in the towel and get on SS.
I would like to hear a bit more about this. I don't quite understand. Are you referring to w4 withholding?
