You heard it here 1st.

The 2011 SX (450) is going to have at least 5 different race winners.

The champion will be the one who is the most consistent and smart enough to take points over wins........and will have never won the title before.

Go Canard!

Yes....Kawi is going to fork over a lot of race wins and championship bonus money to RV this year , so cheap cigars is all they can afford .

Aldon Baker has changed RV. Last year at A1 RV looked like a short thick hulk and his walk showed that he was muscle bound. The current pictures and video clips show that he is mean lean and a fighting machine. By his own words he is fitter and weighs less.

RV is a driven personality. I have been watching him since he was in the age of single digits.

Go RVSmile !!!!

I think Stewart will win A1. Personally Im a Reed fan but I think its going to take him a couple races to get going.

I agree RV will be tough though, as will Canard.

As a fan of all of the riders, the best scenerio for 2011 would be, the top 5 all remain healthy for all of the SX series, the top 5 all be within 1 sec lap time, then fitness and rider skill, will bring the winners to the front. Only 8 more days and a wake up, then it all beginsCool

with all those big names in there the hole-shot will be the biggest point.
i think RV will dominate with a good start though.

I think there will be more the 5 winners. There was 5 winners this year(RV, RD, JS, DM and KW) and it wasnt even this stacked.

JS, CR, RV , RD will all win if they are healthy.

Canard, Kdub, Grant, Shorty, Metty, Millsaps can all get wins.

Then there is also more people on new teams, underdogs, dark horses and alot more.

I bet anyone $100 that no one will win more then half the races. That is that the rest of the top dogs dont all get hurt.

Your bet may be right..... Time will tell a lot by the 4th race.
Notice in the 1st post I said at least. The SX series hasn't looked this strong since the 80's!

I think you can ad Brayton to your list with Shorty,Millsaps, etc.
He finished top 5 in the series last year, was faster than Kdub and Hanson in Aus SuperX , won over both of them before he left aus then went and totally dominated every race in his euro sx races and is now for the first time building and testing his race bike.
He is fast.

The record for most different winners in a single season is seven in 1997. I think the most prior to that was six in 1990 maybe?

Anyhow regardless, the record is seven, and my point is this; could it happen this year? Sure. But IMHO to have that happen again just takes SO many things to line up just right that it’s nearly impossible. Even the five different winners we had last year was pretty amazing to me.

The reason (IMO) is this: we’ve had plenty of years where on paper it LOOKS like there should be multiple different winners (albeit even I have been on the “epic season” bandwagon this year), but it hardly ever plays out because as soon as someone gains control of the class and starts reeling off a few wins, two things happen: #1) that rider builds up an enormous amount of confidence which enables him to keep winning, and #2) the opposite seems to happen to most of the others (I.E. they get demoralized).

OR

As I’ve said every year going in to the Vegas east/west shoot out: there is just WAY too much talent in one place at one time and something bad is bound to happen. What went down at this past year’s Vegas lites main was pretty epic with 4 guys vying for the win right down to the last few turns, it was unreal!! But unfortunately that doesn’t happen very often in that race and there are usually some pretty disappointed top lites riders (usually with a #1E or 1W on their number plate) at the end of the night.

So I guess my point is, as much as I don’t want to see it go down this way, there can only be one winner (every week that is) and that usually leaves the other 8-10 guys that we think SHOULD be winning that night either on the ground or riding back to the pits with their tail between their legs and a solid 7th place finish under their belt.

It's a sad reality of our sport, but at the same time it's also what makes it so interesting. That being said, here’s hoping the 2011 season smashes the record for most different winners, all of the riders stay safe and healthy and we get to see races like the Vegas lites shootout every week!!

In 1997 winners looked like this
Emig 5
Henry 3
MC 2
Lusk 2
Albertyn 1
Huffman 1
Windham 1

There is no way that many differant people will win this year. IMO

I would say out of all the racers, the one that scores the most points will win the championship...

I would love to see several different winners! It's hard not to get on the "epic season" bandwagon, but until I see something great the only thing epic about this year is the hype.

I agree with you in part; we won’t truly know if this season is going to be “epic” until it’s over. However, I don’t think that’s what most of us on the “epic season” bandwagon are trying to say lol. On paper, there is more talent and more potential front runners than there has been in a LONG time. You can’t argue that fact. Again; 8 solid, proven, podium guys (and or winners) plus the top 5 250 guys moving up (minus Pourcel at this point obviously). That is pretty darn deep.

Lol Like I said it's hard not to be on the bandwagon. In fact most of the time I have been. I go back and forth. A realistic look tells me it's hype. However, it is wayyyy more fun on the bandwagon. I'll say this could be an epic season! Maybe then I can still get a spot at the back of the wagon. Laughing

Is kdub the only rider to win in the premier class in three different decades?

I think we can take Millsaps and Short OFF that list. Unless everyone else on the list crashes out, neither of them will have any shot at a win. To have everyone on the list crash out is highly unlikely.

You do know that millsaps won a race this year, right?

Also im not crossing Shorty off just yet. I think this change to a new team is just the kickstart he needs.
