just wanted some opinions, i have a 2009 CRF450R that i am getting ready to put up for sale. has about 12 hours on it. how much should i list it for? it is relatively stock. only thing that isnt stock is suspension which was done by pro action. the reason it wasnt rode much is becuase i had just gotten this bike, rode it, sent the suspension off and wadded on my 08 250f (motor blew on the face of the triple at my track) i have decided to sell both bikes and buy a 250 2t yzinger just to have fun. i am in college (text books arent cheep) and just opened a lawn care buisiness and am only fast enough to not win any money back in the A class!!! LOL. the 250F has 29 hours on it and a fresh rebuild. runs great, has been rode hard by me (A rider) and has a 280 kit in it currently, and a cut down seat and a lot of other sweet stuff. really pimp bike. prolly the BEST bike i ever rode. but the 09 barely feels broke in! just wanted to know how much you guys think would be reasonable to ask for both of these bikes.

Those pos (pieces of shit) are worthless, but here is what I will do because I am a good guy:

It's worth...maybe $1200.00 TOPS. I will give you $1150.00 CASH, plus a gift certificate to Hooters for $50.00.

Don't be so hard on yourself, man. No one thinks you are "dumb pointless shit" (we think that about Big Lenny, but not you); we just want what's best for you, bama205.

I own one and love it but to be honest ,they dont bring alot of money. Aound 3 grand is about it. IDK about the 250F because I ran away from ours as soon as I could.

Good choice on the YZ250. You will enjoy that for years.

Unfortunately, a used bike is a used bike. It being low hours won't add much to the cost. I think you would be DAMN lucky to get 5 grand, I'd probably ask $4500. If it shows any signs of wear that looks like you rode it more than once, don't expect to get anything close to what you paid.

It will sit for awhile at that price. I saw a brand new left over 09 YZ 450 for $4995 the other day. Granted there will be tax and set up but its a brand new bike and you probably can deal because they want it off the floor. There are a lot of deals like this around these days.

The 280 kit is hands down the best thing you could EVER do to a 250f I had two of them and they were the perfect compromise between a 450 and a 250f ....with that being said you got hurt the same way I did.....bike cut out at the face of a peak to peak double and hurt me real bad had nothing to do with the 280 kit it was a carb issue. Sold both of them for a rm250 and never looked back.

I think you should be able to find a buyer at 4k for the 450 and about 3 to 3500 for the 250f imo but you're gonna have to be patient ..... maybe trade the 250f to someone that has a yz and doesn't know much about bikes there are a lot of those out there

Bama205, I work at a honda/yamaha bike dealership and the 08 250f's have been selling between $2500-3000 and that CRF450R if it is as clean as you say should go
for around $4000, but start at $4500 and make sure it looks like new. If you trade the
CRF450R in to the dealership for a new 10/11 YZ250 and can get $3500-4000 for it,
do it because with tax savings your getting an extra $300 for it and not having to deal
with a 100 silly offers. Just my .02 worth.

Holy crap!

4 strokes aren't worth shit. I recently sold my 5 year old 06' KX250 for $3300 and thought I took it in the ass.

I also have an 06' YZ250 (285cc now) and its a great bike, but I thought it was expensive at $5500 back in 06'. No way would I spend that kind of loot today on Yami's old-ass technology.

Instead, I'd be knocking on KTM's door if I were in the market for a new MX smoker. Not to dis the YZ cause it is a great bike, but to dis Yamaha for their shitty business practice of raising prices with no real justification. Lighter brake calipers and wave rotors dont warrant a $1500 price increase IMO.

What a coincidence...I just sold my 08 CRF250R and bought a used 09 CRF450R.

I sold my 250 for $2900

and bought my 450 for $4600 (super duper clean, had less than 2 hours on it)

2009 CRF450 in good shape and low hours.....I would probably ask for about $4200.0.....but would take about $3800.00 - $4000.00 for it.

I paid $7200.00 for a 2010 YZ450F , and rode it for 6 weeks....best I could get out of it was $5800.00. So I lost $1600.00 in 6 weeks.

It's ok though.....since I would of lost that amount on any big 450 anyways. And I ended up getting a bike that I'm a little more comfortable on.....and that's what counts.

Since you could roll them new last year at this time for $5500 OTD and pick off a used one for $4600 or so like new, you would think you would be doing ok to get $4600 or so now. Used bike prices are making a tiny comeback in the motocross meca of Salt Lake in my opinion. Fewer big rebates on new bikes too.

I found a clean '09 CRF450 owned by a goon. I sensed a little desperation, so I low-balled him at $3900 and he went for it.

Couldn't believe it. Basically was able to keep me racing for a few more years.

Good luck buddy is all I can say. I just gave away an 08 450. You have to or it will rot in your garage.

Well, not quite as far as California. Lol. It would be possible to work something out. Almost like paying me to ship it except I'll do it so it won't be roughed up. Te thing really has barely been rode. I don't think I've even fell in a corner with it yet. Only thing is the little black boot marks.

I consider myself lucky that someone had a YZ250 they wanted to unload. I traded my 450 straight up for it. It was one year older and had more time on it, but it cost me way less to freshen up the YZ than it would have to rebuild the 450. Yay me! It was like a breathe of fresh air when I raced my first moto on that thing. Pulled second in starts(250SX beat me every time bastard) in all my motos that day. The rest were 450's. Long deep straight too.
