Would it be too much paperwork and logistics to run seperate class levels for national, or big races like LL and then a different class level for local races?

Like National Class A, B, C. Call them something like AA, BB or CC.

Then have a different ranking at local levels that are just A, B, C. This can allow riders to run higher classes at their local levels but still be eligible for a respective class at the national level?

Say you're a local super star running A class at your home track, but at a national race level you could still race B?

People try to do this all the time in off-road. They'll race A locally and enter B at a national event. "Because it's harder, the race...

People try to do this all the time in off-road. They'll race A locally and enter B at a national event. "Because it's harder, the race is longer, there's more competition," their vag is bleeding, etc ... If you're an expert rider, you're an expert rider, whether it's local or nationally. Same goes for every other class.

What you suggested simply makes it legal to sandbag.

Ah ok, I understand it a bit more after thinking about it from a different perspective. I was just aiming at trying to seperate the divide a bit.

Not an easy solution. It seems there should be some flexibility with 14 to 16 year olds. They are fast but are their muscles aren’t fully developed to handle impacts etc Just my two cents. I quit racing long ago but when I did there were way too many classes as-is. Perhaps flexibility in rules would help w/o adding classes.

So what's the point of having a defined rule system if you can whine your way out of it?

I say get rid of A/B/C classes and just rank everyone together, I guess based on race elapsed time. Then, instead of "I won 250B", it's "I placed 41st overall in 250s". That will cure and negate sandbagging efforts. Still have some age classes and displacement classes obviously

Still only have 40 gate max per race (or whatever). Instead of 3 classes (A/B/C) of 40 250cc racers, it's 120 total 250cc racers divided into 3 groups per moto. Same number of races and motos, just no more 'classes'. Do an initial grouping based on practice lap times and/or past race results. Look at moto1 lap times and regroup for moto2 if needed, etc. But at the end of the day, the results are a ranking from 1-120.

At the local level, where skill levels are wider ranging and entry numbers are lower, efforts should still be made to keep fast and slow, big and small riders separated for safety.

Everyone will bash you, but fuck yeah that’s 100000000x better than the bull shit we have now.

Local racing has been dying over 20 years...there are 2 reasons for this..Cost of bikes and Noise. Secondary (or is it thirdendary) is the cost of insurance and medical bills. When I busted myself up in the late 90's it cost me almost $0 out of pocket. This last broken leg in '19 cost me around $4k. Plus another $4k when I had the plates removed (voluntarily). Local racing by me (SE Wisc) used to be huge. Now 20 years later, it doesn't even really exist.

Up north there’s quite a few places to ride mostly private tracks but public too.  Dyracuse had 380 people 1 day last summer.  The 2- st class gets 18-29 riders , 125 class about the same bigger than 250c.  Old bikes r still competitive if you want to race.

I was a member/raced at Hixton when I lived in the LaCrosse area. Always loved that track. But, if you were riding alone and got hurt...you're in big trouble. Nobody could even hear you scream with the valleys and trees. Raced Dyracuse as well. Both fun tracks. I had no fkng clue Dyracuse had a sand track until my first race there. My KX125 was hammered dead by the end of that rainy day.

I went past Hixton in Dec it was snow covered but I could see the track is being 100% redone.  Dyracuse I ride the sx track next to the pits. It has a part that’s clay , it’s small so everything happens fast. They change the track every week a little bit too.  Land 60+ mi north of Green Bay in 95 was 400 a acer , now it’s way more.  Lucky that a few guys  bought land that ride & built tracks. There all sand & usually hv hills so there fun to ride.  I might move to Wi. Rapids area for the sand riding & the area is Awesome. The lakes r packed , I hit the Quick trip a mi from the track a ton of Hot Blonde all tan.
