May seem random on a mx forum but interested to know how popular crypto investing is with the mx community,

Are you holding any cryptocurrency, if so which ones?

I have Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Shib Inu, Tron, Cardano, and Stellar, maybe a couple more. I also have investments in Microstrategy, Coinbase, and Grayscale Bitcoin and Ethereum. I have done well with my investments in crypto thus far.

I would have to look at how much I have invested total, but I invested $10,000 in March of 2023 specifically for a vehicle...it is now worth $45,000 (I have sold about $10,000 worth to lock in gains). I will use that to buy a 2024 Honda Pilot next Spring.

My brother has invested way more than me, my dad has too. My brother will probably be a millionaire if this next cycle goes up like it's expected. My networth might get there too depending how well crypto does this cycle.

I invest in crypto, but it's probably only about 15-20% of my networth.

For the haters..I'm 36 and make an average salary. 🤟You too can be a millionaire by investing.

I have BTC, Doge, XRP, ETH and SHIB.

Kind of getting sick of it…has a good run, then crashes, good run, then crash. At the end just stay equal.

It’s on a good run right now.  My life always buy high sell low..

Don’t buy right now, wait for the impending crash, then buy ..

I hold BTC, ETH, and SOL at the moment.  I used to trade in and out of alt coins quite a bit during the  2020/2021 rush but now I just buy and hold for the most part, I think I took years off my life making large late night trades haha.  I was able to make enough for a down payment on a house over the course of that time so I did pretty well, but I would have been better off just buying and holding.

Have been in (and out of) Hut for a few years. So indirectly in. Have had current holdings for a year or two. I guess that now means I'm on the Trump train with recent reorganizations.  🤐

All the hype, ETF's, bitcoin treasury companies and the bitcoin strategic reserve, and bitcoin hasn't really gone anywhere priced in gold since 2021. It's actually down 13% from it's Nov 21 peak. There seems to be some serious resistance around the 36 oz to 1 bitcoin level.

I would never call buying crypto investing.  No one has yet to make a real cogent argument as to why crypto has any value at all.  Its not very useful as money, its not as secure as folks thought, rarity is meaningless in the long term unless the "rare" item has some intrinsic value.  Eventually reality will set in.  It can just take a long time for some bubbles to pop...

The first time i bought crypto this happened and I was just throwing my leftover "change" from trading into it. I talked some family members into buying Bitcoin when it was under 10k and they still have it. I still throw peanuts into about 25 crypto on Coinbase. You never know.

Based on the definition of an invest, investing, or investment it is an investment.

invest- expend money with the expectation of achieving a profit or material result by putting it into financial plans, shares, or property, or by using it to develop a commercial venture.

Yep I dabble, just sold off all my SOL positions in profit.

Be prepared to put in time and research, and only play with money you can afford to lose. Crypto can be wild so you need to have a handle on your emotions and be able to hold even in the roughest of times. If you have X amount to invest, don't do it all in 1 go. Spread it out and add more during dips/low price periods

Priced in gold, bitcoin is down 63% from it's 2021 top of 37 oz of gold per 1 bitcoin. Currently sitting at 13.6 oz of gold per bitcoin.  If someone had sold 1 bitcoin in 2021 and bought gold, they'd now be able to buy 2.72 bitcoin with that gold.

Microstrategy, who's turned their whole business strategy from software to buying bitcoin, has spent 55 billion on bitcoin over the past 5 years, but with an average purchase price of 76k per bitcoin, is actually down 11% on their bitcoin priced in dollars. Heck, they'd had been better off keeping that money in cash even with the past 5 years of elevated inflation.
