South African cops often beat up citizens in the streets. When there are protests people get hurt of even worse - shot. I stay away thus ensuring my own safety. This woman fucked around in the wrong place and paid the price.

In Minnesota, defiance is the problem, not ICE

As I watch the firestorm continue to rage between Minnesota lawmakers and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, I miss former President Barack Obama (just a little bit).
Surprising, I know. Why? Obama was the last Democratic president who, despite my disagreements with many of his ideas and policies, often made sense, particularly on immigration. In two terms, “deporter in chief” Obama removed more than 3.1 million immigrants via ICE. In fiscal year 2012, more than 407,000 people were deported. He was even publicly scolded for doing home raids and told to stop.
Though this was a bit controversial, Democrats didn’t seem to mind much.
This is different from what the Democratic Party espouses today. Progressive Democrats are urging their party to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security unless it includes restrictions tied to ICE.
Some prominent Democrats are even calling to abolish ICE after one of its agents fatally shot a U.S. citizen on Jan. 7. Agents shot and wounded a another person in Minneapolis on Jan. 14. This would be a huge mistake. It will cost Democrats.
My home state of Minnesota remains in the national spotlight after a flurry of events involving ICE, residents and Minnesota lawmakers. On Jan. 14, a judge allowed ICE operations in Minnesota to continue despite the fact that state officials are suing the Trump administration over his immigration crackdown, something they say is an authoritarian reach of power.
Several prosecutors in the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division said they were resigning after they learned that the DOJ would not be opening an investigation into what happened during the shooting that led to Renee Nicole Good’s death.
Good’s death sparked controversy and outrage over ICE’s role in Minnesota and immigration issues at large. The mess in Minnesota has also demonstrated, probably, the single biggest difference between Republicans and Democrats right now.
Minnesota’s Democratic leaders, including Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who are outraged over ICE’s very presence in their communities, have made this entire debacle much harder than it needs to be.
I understand that home raids, or ICE agents going door-to-door, seem scary. Federal officers should strive to act in accordance with our laws. They should not behave like thugs.
But they are in a difficult position: Entering the United States illegally is already a crime. If Minnesota law enforcement apprehended more lawbreakers, there would be no need for ICE to participate in home raids or for ICE to swarm metro cities, arresting known rapists and drug traffickers.
Walz and Frey blame ICE’s tactics for Minnesota’s brewing civil unrest, but in reality, being soft on state and federal crime created the need for ICE to swoop in and enforce them.
I’ve been disappointed to see that since Obama’s presidency ended in 2017, the Democratic Party began viewing immigration laws as optional and ICE as federal agents who aren’t legitimate members of law enforcement.
Federal immigration laws are not a cornerstone of just America’s sovereignty and well-being but also of most advanced countries. Obama and President Bill Clinton believed this.
The ideas of philosophers − Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau − reinforced this. They are rooted in the idea that there is a delicate but vital social contract between citizens and governments: Individuals collectively give up some liberty and agree to obey laws to receive security, peace and order. Without this, there is chaos.
Democrats now seem to be openly advocating for the disruption of this social contract − even calling to de-fund or abolish ICE altogether.
Most Americans don’t agree with or want this. Before the 2024 election, immigration was among the top concerns of most Americans.
Trump administration officials could do their part better. They need not make this overtly political by trading jabs and smearing Democratic lawmakers. That riles everyone up more and is not a good example of leadership.
Our social contract depends on immigration enforcement. Just ask Obama. Democrats upend this at their peril.

After they put out the statement calling them terrorists and rioters, where is the proof that they were doing anything beyond being stopped where they shot her? In the video it sounds like its the first encounter IC is having with them. The wife/friend telling ice that "we don't change our plates like you guys ,it will be the same tomorrow". That may not be the exact quote word for word but very close if not an exact quote.
I think that the ICE agent was documenting the vehicle so they could know if they saw them again.
In my experience as a kid and person who rode places that were not always 100% legal ( local sandpits). The first time the police came they took our names/lic # and vehicle plates and put them into a database so that if they came a second time they would ramp up the level of kicking us out. First time was a warning, second was they impound the bikes.
The walk around video along with the comments from the wife sound like that's what they were doing to me. So either that was their first encounter with ICE that day, ICE is less concerned about knowing who the people are that they consider violent domestic terrorists than the local to me PD cared about a noise complaint and who the kid riding a dirtbike in an abandoned sand pit was. Or who knows ,I'm open to other possibilities. It just seems like something that would be done at the first encounter (taking down the plate number).
They film you for many different reasons. To identify you, to document the encounter, possibly provide evidence and to intimidate you as well as leave open the possibility for further retribution in the form of publishing your identity/info, further charges, propaganda material.
ICE, BP and DHS are in a social media war with the public, they need content. They need to show their supporters they are doing their mandate and also at the same time can intimidate their opposition and ramp up the civil disobedience and protests. This helps justify their actions to their support base.
Stephen Miller and the administration benefit from the political discourse. Again, all part of the shock and awe strategy of the current administration,
I hadn't seen this when I posted that there was a MEME to be made about ICE and masks.
I'm surprised that none of them seem to have bodycams. Releasing the footage of those women and their violent activities they were partaking in earlier in the day could calm things down if that's what the footage showed.
According to DHS policy, ICE Directive 19010.3 requires agents to activate BWCs at the beginning of public-facing enforcement activities and keep them on until the activity concludes.
I only read the AI summary on the policy so I don't know how accurate it all is. Some of the AI summary contradicted itself. Saying it's been a policy since 2025, but there has been a renewed push to mandate bodycams after this shooting. I guess AI is saying there is a push to make it the law instead of just a policy that DHS/ICE don't follow.
Call me crazy, but if the ICE agents are avoiding wearing cameras, and the regular people that are out being called rioters and terrorists are recording a lot of the interactions they have. Who would You think is the one trying to hide what they are doing?
I'm not against removing people who broke the law by coming here illegally. But it could be done without so much disruption and violence. I'd rather see violent criminals' and sex traffickers, pedofiles , rapists ,etc. arrested no matter where they are from. Before they start throwing around tear gas next to a school playground to arrest a few roofers whos' only crime was crossing the border and trying to work.
I know its only a few words. But it sounded like it could have been the first time they interacted when she was saying "it will be the same tomorrow" about the plate number. It sounded like the officer may have told them what he was doing and why. If I had not heard that part of the interaction I may not have thought it was their first encounter.
Why would You wait to take down somebodies' info at the end of the day if They had been violent and acting like a domestic terrorist all day. Why wait until they are just parked sideways? seemed like they could have just driven around them and avoided everything. Or stopped them while they were in the act of doing whatever violent actions lead up to that encounter.
I know they want content , that was another reason I was surprised at the lack of visible bodycam's . I'm sure there are some wearing them. But no bodycam footage has come out from the shooting and I didn't see any visible in the images I saw. Not to say that they couldn't be wearing hidden cameras.
I wish that everybody would wake up and stop fighting each other and start pushing back on the people who keep agitating everybody. I'm sure that 60-70% of people agree on most of the big things. If we all worked together we could actually get those things to happen.
