If they don't even give out license penalty points for takeouts (wether that be Sexton or Deegan), getting to 15 license points to even recieve a championship point penalty is kinda insane, no? And it resets after 12 months already. Isn't that basically a free pass for riders to take each other out at this point?

Neither of those takeout warranted a penalty…..
Considering you can lose three actual points for failing a sound test, it’s quite ridiculous.
Good concept but yes I agree this is going to have to be tightened up a lot before it becomes a deterrent instead of a permission slip.
Can't remember which pod mentioned it but friese and John Starling must have gotten into it. Money has to be on friese being first one to get to 15.
If those are considered take outs, the sport had become completely pussyfied.

You didn't get the point.
For example let's take Kitchens move on Deegan at SMX last year (a "real" takeout) and let's say the AMA fines him with 3 license penalty points which according to them is the maximum currently. So hypothetically Kitchen has three more moves left that year before he would even get to 15 points and recieve a championship point penalty. That system seems absolutely useless, no?
And yeah, what CPR said. Riders can get fined with championship point penalties for missing sound checks but not for cleaning out other riders? Kinda funny.
Also yes, we get it. The sport is soft now and everyone was so tough back then (sarcasm).
I think failing a sound test should deduct points from that stupid Manufacturer Points Championship. Penalizing the rider who has little to no control of his exhaust is ridiculous.
It's kinda self policing I think. As long as two people are on the lead lap I don't think there should be penalties. Someone who rides like an asshole will get cleaned out also and it all balances out.
Now if they are a lap down and clean out someone on the lead lap. That's a different story imo.
And I don't think either of those moves were remotely dirty enough to even talk about penalties.
