Which 250 Supercross champion had the worst 450 career?
I used to think of Christoph Pourcell or even Blake Baggett… but I took a break from the sport for half a decade.
I missed the years of Colt Nichols on a 250. Who else has this happened to?
Lots didn't adapt great. Buehl, Swink, Antunez, Lamson, Craig, Hill, it's a tough transition.
Craig should've kept riding his 250 in the 450 class. I think there were several times where he would qualify and have main laps that were, or on par with, the fastest of the night. Granted, he was on a slightly smoother track
Buehl and Lammy never won 125/250 regionals - maybe Denny stephenson or Ivan Tedesco?

I just remember him going really good on the TLD KTM. He must’ve come close, more than once.

He finished 2nd three times.
Colt is not a good example. He got shafted. There were no rides the year he moved up. He made the best of a fill in ride for SX at HRC and was getting top 5s.
Then went privateer and started getting injured on lesser equipment.

Far from the worse 450 career.

Pourcel got the shaft worse than anyone, after 2 titles in a row.
He may be the biggest fall off though. He moved up started killing it then somewhat fell off. Not to say he’s a horrible rider now but no where near the form when he won on the 450.

Agreed. He also barely lost two outdoor 250 championships. Crashed at the final round and lost to Dunge.
DNF'd a moto at Soutwick in '09, lost points lead and title to Dungey. Crashed and hurt shoulder at last round in '10 lost points lead and title to Canard.
he would have won i think 2017 west the year hill won if his ktm didn't grenade at one of the rounds.

Shae Bentley won a title & don’t think he ever got to the premiere class.
Craig might be faster on that Honda this year… Justin Hill has had some top 10s and top 5s which isn’t bad…
Barcia has been underwhelming to me, Nicols, Bogle, Craig. Justin Hill, who wanted a 450 so bad when he was on a 250 and completely blew all his chances after he won the title on PC.
