i said this a month ago. I posted I thought Reed would do his own deal, and then bring CP on and let the star power draw in the money it would take to do it right for both of them.

now the CP and Reed is a wishful thinking deal, but, that would be VERY ground shaking right off the bat for them and the sport.

he'd buy a bike, park it in 22's semi, get mitch to tune it up and get his $ from personal sponsors

Buy a bike, now thats funny, do you think Pourcel would actually spend his own money and buy a bike LMAO! When was the last time a top pro actually spent their own money and bought a bike to race and raced it?

If I had the talent to win races and ended up in a position where I had to buy my own bike, I would change the plastics and the engine covers so that it isn't obvious what brand it is.
Then when I'm leading the championship I would open the bidding with the factories to see how much money they want to pay me to run their colors.

Back in the day after Rich Thorwaldson left Team Suzuki he raced a Rm370 and Painted the tank like a Husky with Maico forks, didn't look anything like a Suzuki.

you make some good points, I imagine pourcel would need to get outside sponsors to pay for an outsourced team and ginomous salary he wants, ala JS, than Kaw could give him all the tech support and factory bike, just like Yamaha does for Stewart. that way its a win win for Factory Yamaha, or KAw.they don't have to pay his ridiculous salary, but they can support him with parts and tech to help him podium and represent.

They don't call him the sneaky frenchman for nothing, I have a suspicion he has had an huge outside sponsor in his back pocket for sometime and keeping us all wondering what the fug is going on with him. Some unexpected sponsor like San manual, I know Allen Johnson, drag racing, is being sponsored buy a Dubai Sheik, Allen Johnson al-anabi racing! Budget, Unlimited!

I think CP has some business savy like CR...regardless we won't know til we know Tongue

All of you guys who think Reed shouldn't hire a "faster" rider have to be joking. Where has Pourcel proven to be faster? The guy hasn't even entered one premier division race and you "claim" he is faster? You people baffle me with your stupidity. His so called large ego you speak of is shadowed by your own blind, bewildered two year, old pathetic of a excuse mind that is incomprehensible to the thought of making a team. That your still sucking on your moms tits.
I think anyone that thinks that Pourcel will prove to be faster actually have their heads on quite right. Honestly, hire Pourcel as part of "TwoTwo Motorsports"? It's an opinion and actually quite a well thought out one. Pourcel and Canard are going to be fast 450 riders, no doubt about that. Just as Dungey and Metcalfe came up and were. In fact Reed himself had never proven himself against the big class riders but in his 1st year beat everyone but RC and actually won more races than him but lost the title by a few points. It happens. It's basically just an opinion/prediction. But you really think Chad would even take a CHANCE in hiring someone that could end up beating him? I think TwoTwo Motorsports is going to be a one man show, with the TwoTwo at the helm.

Exactly!

Reed needs to worry about getting himself/his team prepared for this season, not much time left.
IMO: Hiring the competition would be a bad move.
I said this initially when the TWO-TWO PR first came out.

Pourcel would be competitive in the 450 class.
He has been riding a 450 for a while now,(just not racing one).

If you look at CP's lap times from Daytona last year on that 250F,he was flying (1:03.821).
However, during the first practice session Reed laid down the fastest qualifying lap that would be seen for that day (1:02.830).Reed did that pretty much coming off the couch.

However,I have also heard people say that CP is better & faster on the 450.

To assume that CP wouldn't have anything for Reed or the others, would be a bit foolish.
Don't underestimate CP.

It is not about underestimating CP, i think the guy is amazing. The point was made to illustrate how claiming he "is" faster than Reed without racing once on a big bike. Just as well as looking at a 250f vs. a 450 at Daytona. You are comparing apples and oranges. How many people thought Stewart was God just because he turned better times on his 125 vs. RC on his 250/450? Obviously it didn't work quite like they thought. The main point however, is that Chad himself said he would like to have another rider when asked about CP, he just didnt have the sponsorship money, nor did he have his team solidified yet. Chad is a smart rider/businessman. Pourcel is very talented and will find his own way just like he has done before.

I just hope that we can have a healthy CP. The cat has crazy skills, and I would love him to mix it up here. Whether he will be 100% or not he will raise the bar.

just so you guys know; Kawasaki of Aus and Monster are funding Hansens Aus SX ordeal.

bottom line, Mitch isn't 'funding' a 450 program.

That boy could have a factory bike but still wont close the deal against the seasoned SX regulars. He has style but limited experience and what experience he has shown us, he throws a tantrum and blows his wad. Raped HA. I think he is the one that should be worried.

Who is slated for January?
Dungey
Stewart
Villopoto
Reed?
Brayton
Hahn?
Stroup
Canard
Windham
Short

The problem with Pourcel on a 450 isn't speed......its fitness. If he gets so tired on a 250 that he is only good for one moto it will only get much worse on a 450.

CP is a very talented rider, but it's my understanding that he opted to not have his shoulder surgically repaired. If this is the case, I honestly doubt that he get's though the season with out more shoulder problems.

Just my .02 cents

I wonder if that is because they sell way more 250f motor mods? Is it a bizness deal? I would think a 450 team would cost less than a east and west 250f .

History would probably show that manufacturers wouldn't have too much of a problem with that sort of scenario. Examples include McGrath at Chaparral, Larocco at Factory Connection, Windham at Factory Connection, and Reed at L&M San Manuel. As long as none of the incoming sponsors are too big of a clash with the factory sponsors, they'd probably love the idea! Get a top talent for some bike parts costs and some bonus money? Sounds like a score to me!
