He has been announcing in this sport for almost 20 years and he still struggles to know when the riders hit the last lap or checkered flag, as an ANNOUNCER by the way. Still struggles to get any names right, most of the time he just calls the riders number now. Constantly interrupting his partner in the booth.
He has a great voice for announcing and I totally get that for most of us listening to him it feels very nostalgic. Seems like a good dude aswell, I've only seen positive comments here about his persona. But at this point it's really hard to find someone who is actually worse at their job.
Honestly I could never get on board with Ralph, no one's perfect I get it but there was a period there feel like every race he announced there was multiple cringe moments that make us all go " what the hell did he just say?" Fumbles the riders names, numbers, mix riders up, talk about nonsense, talks over ppl etc Just thought he'd get better having been around it for so long. I'll shrug of RC's stuff cause dudes the goat he can say silly stuff and get away with it and I give Fro the same pass cause they're both legends. All that being said I think he definitely should have put the snacks down, it was the last race like wtf Ralph couldn't wait 5 minutes hahaha. Does deserve little razzing for that. He also doesn't seem as sharp as he used to be but maybe he's still trying to get get used to stuff again. Either way , Ralph> Leigh Diffy. Could always have someone worse ya know ? They could have picked Rutledge Wood... 😆
