25 Ktm 300sx gearing

Both my manual and Motorsport say stock gearing is 14/49 so I ordered a 50 to go up a tooth…when I pulled the stock one it’s a 47 but I can’t find anything online confirming this gearing.  Am I crazy?IMG 2923

I did count it and it’s got a 47 stamped on it.  So strange.

I have the 2025 KTM 300 SX also and It does Come with 14T in front and 47T in rear.
Rocky Mountain ATV's site is the only one I see that is correct on this. I switched mine out to
14T front and 49T rear renthal sprocket and chain set.

I just re geared my bike with a 49 to run third in most corners without beating the clutch a ton.  Feeling like you’re right about a shortage.  Every shop and lots of folks online had 48s and 50s but no 49s haha

I’m not saying 47 is the right number for that bike but you can’t trust the online retailer sprocket listings. They have the count wrong on the 2024 and 2025 250xc, and it was the same both years from the factory.

I have the same bike but the Husk version 300TC. Gearing in the manual is 14/47 but now I wonder what it actually has. If the KTM is 14/49, that could be the extra punch that you always see when they test the two and the Husk is more linear.

Interesting! My 2023 300sx definitely came with a 49, which I replaced with a 50. I can't imagine a 47-tooth being optimal, unless you like running 2nd gear everywhere. Although, I could see it working OK on a very open and fast track.

My 25 Husk came with a 47 as listed in the manual and yes you spend more time in 2nd gear than 3rd. The 300 lugging thru turns doesn't happen for me with a 47 tooth. Only 6hrs on the bike and I can tell the chain and sprockets won't be on it much longer from chain stretch and rear sprocket wear.

My 49 is amazing and really allows a lot more lugging third through corners! Would recommend for sure

Going through my 2025 (new) and yup came with 47 and manual doesn’t show any transmission gear changes from 2023/24, anyone try a 48?

For MX guys that have 300’s they all seem to like the 49, run corners in 3rd. Only ridden a 300 once and could see running a 14/48 for longer pull but gonna use 2nd more, which is fine. Thoughts?

I have a 25 300SX, also have 150 hrs on my 23 300sx…Based off my previous experience on the new 300 platform I went straight to my 14-50 gearing…. I could make the 49 work but often found myself  between 2nd & 3rd, the 50 rear allowed me to use 3rd as my main gear for most situations…I ride mostly Mx with some Gncc type woods loops…now with that said…after my WMR reflash of stock EcU …I could probably use the 49 rear on a hardpack or intermediate track. I ride mostly sand or deep disced dirt, so I will keep 50 on ….The guys @ WMR have their 2 maps tuned to perfection…. The MX tune almost never signs off… I was a little worried, they said 93 octane is all I need… but so far its epic…I don’t work for WMR and the tune is not cheap😂

I’ll edit previous post, the OEM parts finder shows the 2023 and 2024 came with a 49, and 2025 a 47

Haven’t found OEM parts listing for 2026 anywhere

I’m actually running a 50 now to corner in third.  Aside from a super tight 180 I can run third gear everywhere with the occasional shift to 4th on long straights

This is what I have found, much like a 450, 2nd gear will wear you out, 3rd chugs good then little clutch and you flying

Exactly and if I keep my roll speed up I just lug it without much clutch.  Doesn’t sound impressive but I’m moving pretty good

As others have noted and as the owner of a 23,24 and 25 I can confirm the 23-24 come 14/49 and the 25 came 14/57.

Imo 14/50 is the sweat spot for these bikes and you can use third on almost all parts of the track.

when I got my 25 it never dawned on me that they’d change the gearing and I was completely tripping out my first ride hitting pretty good sized jumps in 2nd. It’s crazy how much torque these 300’s have because it actually did pull the 47 pretty damn good, better than I woulda thought that’s for sure. With that said 14/50 is still it imo!
