Instead of trying to save $40, and wonder why our industry suffers, why not put your money back into the sport instead of some rich Chinese business man?

Some of you will literally go buy Walmart and bullshit aliexpress gloves and jerseys.

Those people aren’t investing money to sponsor riders, events, teams, ect.

Without those companies, our sport suffers.

So go ahead and save $30/$40 bucks and buy some lame shit off Temu but I’m gonna support our industry if it costs a couple more bucks because I actually give a shit.

No, you’re gonna have your parents do it when you get new gear this Christmas😂😂

Yeah okay bud.

Keep saying that in your top of the line Thor gear, Alpinestar $60 gloves, and here comes the cherry on top.

A cheapo off brand Chinese helmet. 🤣

You can’t make this stuff up.

You went all out on gear and bought to cheapest brain bucket you could find. You just lost all credibility.

I wear a VFX-Evo. I have no clue what you're talking about. Epic self own. Screenshotted.

I'm wearing airbrakes too 🤑😅

I just bought two sets of thor pants/jersey combo and two sets of gloves at Iron Pony for $74. I don't care if it's from a year or two or longer ago.

I think I paid about 70 bucks in 1980ish for my first pair of riding pants, the infamous Fox orange and yellow. That was when you went to the post office for a money order, sent your order via cutout from a magazine in the mail, and then waited with no confirmation for what seemed an eternity.

That would be about 275 bucks today.

I feel like I’m going crazy, because I swear I paid around $300 back in 2007/2008 for my Fox 360 Montage jersey, pants, and gloves.

These days I usually just wait for good deals. I picked up my current Canvas gear during last year’s Black Friday sale.

I also keep an eye on sites like Dirt Bike Depot or MXBoot. Most of the time there’s nothing great, but occasionally you’ll find insane deals. I grabbed a nearly new set of Fly Kinetic Mesh for $85—the only “weird” thing about it is a 2"×2" SwapMoto Live logo on the collarbone. Still a great deal.

Or is it the inflated prices of everything that are allowing these gear companies to exist now? I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but the argument is that gear is too expensive. Being in the same price "range" (note it doesn't say less, or even equal)  of the other gear companies doesn't exactly solve that, does it? That was the basic argument against tariffs - it will make EVERYTHING more expensive.

Also, the long time mantra is that Chinese (or overseas anywhere for that matter) = poor quality, USA made = high quality, but how can you actually assume that when they are hitting an equivalent price point with more expensive materials, more expensive leasehold costs, and more expensive labor?

At Rocky Mt…for Black Friday…they’ve got MSR gear, which I’m pretty sure they own now, for $66 Jersey, Pant & Glove.

Damn, that’s cheap! I’d you went 1 pant, 2 jersey, 2 glove: $92

There’s an MSR Universal jersey for $9.99 and other deals, too.

I think that’s about as inexpensive as I’ve seen lately.

You can get 2025 Astars gloves, pants, jersey for $186. Same for Fox, $178. That’s with no sale. With a sale you can get them around $100-150. If you want top of the line gear Chase or Kenny wear then expect to pay for it. All helmets companies will have massive sales when their new paint schemes drop. I just don’t get why so many people are upset they offer high end gear for people who can afford it. I for one spend money on helmet and boots then I get whatever decent gear I can find on sale. I typically spend around $150 and have zero complaints. Have I bought high end stuff? Yes. Did it make me go any faster? No.

I have always been someone who has bought last season's closeout or sale gear. I've also used some of the MSR gear for a bit now as well. However, I have never been cheap with anything else like a helmet, goggles, and boots.  As I am looking for some early Black Friday deals, I am in disbelief on the costs of some sets now. Over $300 for one set of One Industries, Fox, or Alpinestars now!? I am fine with the gear I have now, I am curious if anyone has these expensive sets of gear, and if they can give feedback. I want to know if there is something special about them, or if they are just expensive for the brand name.

Inflation is real and moto gear is definitely way overpriced. If I didn’t have connections for deep discounts, I would have a tough time justifying the current cost to purchase new gear.

Part of this problem, is the gear companies paying out millions to the riders to wear their gear. While I’m happy for the riders to be pulling in 7 figures, it has really taken a toll on the average Joe, purchasing gear for him and his kids. I can’t imagine how Alpinestars or Fox can turn a profit, with the money they put out in rider salaries.
Deegan just signed a $10,000,000.00 deal, how much gear has to be sold at full retail in order to recover just his salary ? Add on Roczen and all the other Fox athletes and it’s crazy they can turn a profit.
Alpinestars has to be the absolute king of salaries… with so many different Motorsports athletes being paid BIG money and the hundreds, maybe thousands, of athletes that they pay to wear their gear, I can’t imagine that they are profitable.
Have you priced a new high end helmet lately ? They are now in the $1000 range after tax and shipping even with a discount, it’s expensive !

I filled out the 35% off on the Moose site only open in the fall. When I was broke down in Chicago. I never heard anything. Looks like I,m wearing 98 SHiFT gear to win a 30+ AX championship. A Ukraine chic at my wotk. Enjoy IMG 4769.png?VersionId=AOlf7h

I’ll check the TLD site for gear on sale quite often. Usually for friends that’re getting into moto/just starting out. I’m often getting them “head to toe” for less than $500 often more like $300.

Helmet (SE5 composite to SE poly $387-$180)   $180

Pant -  (GP to SE…$75-$120)                              $  75

Jersey (GP)                                                          $  25

Gloves (Flow)                                                       $  18

Total                                                                     $298 (all black…head to toe…looks pretty cool, too!)

Got a friend in gear for his 1st race…SE5 composite helmet w/ red-wht-blue SE Honda gear…air glove…$583 all in…that’s $100 less than what the helmet originally sold for…JUST the helmet! 🤣

We find great goggles on sale for $30-50 and often including tear-offs or a spare lens. Boots…$200-400…all on sale and all great values. This time of year you can find all sorts of deals if you go lookin’.

Good luck!

My all black TLD set including helmet is only $248.48 with their Black Friday 20% code - BFCM

I walked out of Iron Pony with two A-Stars jersey/pant combos from last year.  I think it was right around $100 for two sets of gear.  I know it's shit quality, but that is very cheap.

That sounds about right.  Way back in 1985, I  "had" to have a set of the new all white, vented set of JT Racing gear.  After I got the  (optional) name on the back of the pants, the price on the pants alone was pushing $200 , but damn, I looked GOOD !   LOL!
