That is clearly an auxillary powerband housing. I just wonder if it is adjustable? I heard these bikes have a backup powerband, should the primary powerband snap. You just flip a switch on the handlebars and presto, back in business.

You are correct, its for easy access so you can change out different colored powerbands while you are at the track.
