PR: New Old School Photos at Buckley's

Edited Date/Time 1/26/2012 1:49am
I spent the last few days scanning some never before seen photos from the Buckley Archives, I think there's something for everyone in the Classic section now, from Bailey to Bubba, Wardy to Windham. Great for gift giving or just for your own wall. If you're into motocross from the early days this'll be trip down memory lane that you'll really enjoy. http://www.buckleyphotos.com/classicprints/

Paul, Obviously I've always loved your work and was lucky enough to have you as the main photographer for the NESC when I was racing. My office walls are covered in your work. Looking through your classic collection I am struck by the style of David Bailey. I grew up racing in the same era and always appreciated his style at the time. Looking back now it is even more impressive. He so rarely got out of shape and he always looked just perfect. What an amazing talent. I think you need to do a really nice photo book from that era, I know I'd be first in line. Happy holidays Paul.

Thanks for the kind words Lee, yeah David was the definition of smooth although I do have a Gainesville crash sequence where a works RC500 bit him.

I keep thinking about a book but every publisher I talk to always says something like we'll give you 10 cents per book so if you sell ten thousand of them you'll make a grand. Doesn't seem worth it. I'll keep looking.

Hey Paul,
Self Publish! Its pretty easy these days, i think you can set the whole thing up over the internet. The only issue then is trying to sell them yourself...

Paul - I've got a scrapbook full of pics of me at the NESC races that you took from 1979 until 1987 or so. I just pulled them out last night to show my 6 year old son. They bring back some great memories!

Hi Paul,
I'd second the self publish route, perhaps get someone like DC from RacerX on board as he will have the contacts in print media.
It needs to be done!

Simon Cudby once told me the MX photo books he put out didn't make him a fortune, but were an excellent "business card" that brought in a lot more work!

Paul.....you wouldn't happen to have any old pictures of Phil Larson or Eric Eaton would you? 83' Larson was #25 and I think 85' Eaton was #44

I probably do have some of Larson and Eaton from back then, I'll take a look the next time I'm going through the stuff.

Well said Hellion. By the way, your first name wouldn't be Lee is it? If so, We may be in some Buckley photos together from back in the day.. We may have raced each other back in 78-80 or so. NEMA days.. Happy Holidays, Steve V. # 238
