Funny you ask RupDog, I just was there last week for 3 days and put in 12 hours on the bike. In laymans terms - the place kicks ass!

There are 7 mx tracks for adults, some easy, some hard but all very fun. The new "bomber" track is pro level and has the best dirt. All the tracks are hardpack red clay but suprisingly tacky - would hate to ride it in the rain.

Lots of fast trails - some tight single track trails too. The freestyle track is out of my league fo sho.

I've been there twice and stayed in a cabin with 2 bunks which was fine and just stayed in the owners old house which is turned into 2 suites - it was probably overkill for 4 guys but it was nice.

We rode each track like 3 laps and would move to the next and do the same. You have to take some trails to the tracks in the woods but it's fun. A whole loop this way was about an hour and a half and we never got bored but would do it again and again.

Extra tip - if you go into Athens for supper, we went to a place called Fatz Cafe and sat at the bar to rehydrate and have supper - there was a great bartender their name Kristen (I think) and let me tell you, she has a wicked body and a rack that you will never forget!

There is also a lodge, restaurant, pro shop and mechanics. The kids track looks really good but I didn't bring my kids.

Enjoy!

If your outcome is to cruise some trails and ride some chill tracks mostly geared toward moderately skilled riders, play ride and hang with family and friends.... Great place.

If your outcome is to hammer on a well prepped, quality motocross track, go elsewhere.

If you don't mind hard pack, slick, mostly one line dusty tracks, you'll be fine. The new track does have better dirt but not everywhere. On that track, you're much better off making your own lines in the hard dry clumpy tilled up clay, than riding the blue groove that forms from every rider taking the same line around the track.

I'm not bashing, the place is not bad at all. I just expect more from a moto track.
It's a place you go to have lot's of fun, not ride in race prep conditions.

Mount hard pack tires and watch out for yoyo's.

I can agree with you there - our goal when I've been there was to just ride, ride, ride and it was fun. Also, on the weekends there are quite a few squirrels riding around you have to watch out for. There were actually kids and dudes with mohawks mounted on their helmets ...

I'll go there again before springtime here.

Braap!

I live about 30 minutes from there and have ridden there pretty regularly. I'd have to echo what a couple of said already:

Pro's:
Lots o' tracks and trails for every skill level.
On-site shop loaded with gear (priced reasonably)
Cabin rentals.
Camping.
New Mark Barnett built track.

Cons:
Most of the tracks are Ga. red clay and not watered. Best ridden right after a rain.
Dusty as hell if it hasn't rained in a few days.
Lots of quads (you will no doubt see a tard doing a donut in the gravel parking lot).

All that being said, we have had many a good time there. Most of the tracks are old-man friendly, and my son loves the kids track.

Hey Rupe, i went there with some buddy's after Daytona last spring.

For the first day it was great. It rained on the second, and we jetted. Our cabin was rustic, but i didnt go there thinking it would be like the Four Seasons. I also didnt feel bad walking around with dirty boots either. I would def. agree with the above detailed descriptions.

It is a great big place where you can go cruise around and ride through a tank or two of gas by riding both tracks and trails. I think we rode through nearly two tanks of gas in one day, which i had not done in about 15 years. The track prep is so-so, but just riding trails through the woods and popping onto some random track was fun. It is certainly worth a check out.

Def. worth a stop, great all around area with TONS to ride and check out.

My buddies and I even spent some time on the flat track, which was a (dusty) blast. We did our best to imitate Chris Carr, but, er, not so much. It was fun though!

It is an INTERESTING place.

The new motocross track is pretty good.

Tracks worth mentioning in Georgia/Alabama......

Pecan Valley (McRae, GA) - only open on race days for the most part, my favorite
Aonia (Washington, GA.) - Not far from Durhamtown
Echocnnee (Macon, GA) - Also only open on race days
Bremen (Bremen, GA) - Kind of run down, but open regularly
Calhoun SX (Calhoun, GA) - Newly re-opened, nice small track
AMP MX (Heflin, AL) - GA/AL border, new track, nice and safe
MillCreek (Pell City, GA) - Nice facility

There are others around, but these are my personal favorites.

think ski resort for dirt bikes. We stayed at one of their cabins, thinking hunting lodge. served the purpose and everything worked. the family had a blast, daughter did not enjoy running out of gas, a long walk for both of usSmile We don't get trails like that in Fl, so it was worth it for us...

I actually spent this previous weekend at Durhamtown for the first time. The place is great and has tons of stuff to do. If you're just into riding moto then I can see some people getting bored if they are spending multiple days there. If you mix in motos with trail rides then you can have an endless amount of fun there. Crazy amount of trails and single track, bring bark busters.

From my only experience there the MX tracks don't get groomed except for their new Bomber track. That track is gnarly.

I didn't stay in a cabin but one of their RVs. On par with roach motel but its a place to lay your head and also get a shower after a long day of riding. Definitely a place worth checking out.

Beware of the quad tards!

In my opinion, its heaven for motorcycles. I've been there 2 times, camped out 3 days both times, rode till my hands and butt hurt so bad I had to stop. As an 80's SoCal MX'er who grew up at Saddleback, De Anza, Victorville, Carlsbad, Indian Dunes (hated the sand), and Soggy on New Years. Durhamtown MX tracks don't bother me one bit. The new bomber track is prepped by "todays" standards but I never grew up on prepped tracks and actually cannot stand the deep ruts prepped tracks make now adays. You can ride for 3 days and still not see everything.

I went out there the weekend that the new track opened and hated it really. The dirt is horrible and all except the new tracks are jokes. also, I believe that it was 30 bucks to ride. Of course all I do is ride/race mx and I appreciate a well maintained track, especially for 30 bucks. On the other hand, if you ride a quad or like trails that looks like a cement roller is used to maintain them, then you will love it. In my opinion, just go to monster mountain or amp mx.

If I won the lotto I would surely be spending my winters in southern Georgia.
