IF this is true, it’s one big twist of the knife!

Definitely a nothing burger. Some people are overly sensitive and have an issue with everything.

I don’t have an issue with it.

I’m entertained at a rider taking a dig at a brand.

Not any more. But what does this say?

For the ‘24-‘25 period, KTM paid Chase a LOT of money to promote their brand, their associates and their sponsors in a positive light.
For the most part, in front of the cameras, he did that.
We’re now three weeks post season, he’s out of contract so he can say and do what he wants, without employment restrictions, and here he is publicly displaying that his practice suspension of choice during his period of employment was NOT KTM’s own equipment.

Without using the words, this ‘says’ “when I was out of shot of the camera, I chose to ride something better than what KTM produce.

How people can’t see that’s a dig at KTM is beyond me.

Imagine if Eli advertised some RMZs for sale…

“My weekday RMZ practice bike is for sale- great bike, loved riding it. I can have as many Yamahas as I want, FREE, but I personally prefer to ride a Suzuki during the week, so I bought this with my own money.”

Ya think Yamaha won’t be saying WTF?!

Hey, at least I’m adding something to the forum..

best you can add is “yeah, no, for sure” & “what time does Deegan race?”

I’ve bought little parts/spares off rich people multiple times. One time dude had a half a million dollar RV. Was expecting him to just give me the stock bar mounts I needed, they had no value anyways. Of course I say “how much do you want for them” to be courteous, he said $20 lol

I dont agree.

That makes no difference. KTM didn’t want us to know his race forks were KYB, otherwise they’d have stuck KYB decals on them & not try to disguise them with WP decals.

I was not saying he should just toss them in the trash, I was saying, I just cannot image him sitting there thinking, I should sell these parts. He don't need the money and I sure would think he has alot more important things to be thinking about, like how to beat Jett and how to get better on a bike. Not some parts from last year.

Of course KTM didn't want anyone to know about the KYB components, but ML blew the lid off that early on and it has been written about/discussed by every media outlet for the past several months.

I don't know why you keep bringing up KYB stickers. They are not a sponsor or official supplier to the team why would KTM put a KYB logo on the bike? Would you expect them to run a Rotella sticker instead of Motorex?

His Dad was probably just cleaning out the garage. What else do you want the guy to do with parts; store them in bedroom closet, save them as memorabilia, hell no sell it. His Pops was probably thinking beer money.

Exactly,  This might be a big surprise but Teams do  use products   from other brands and just run sponsor logos.   One example I know of is a team that was sponsored by K&N for the air and oil filters.  K&N paid them and provided twinair filters to the team. At that time K&N did not even make filters for the bikes the team ran.   It happens with stuff like that often. Oils and stuff that is harder to see.

RC ran a bridgestone rear tire on his honda with Dunlop decals .  I've seen other riders run tires with other company brands painted on them too.

It is less common than years ago. I've heard of all kinds of stuff that went on before social media and everybody having a camera.

If anything, KTM would be more likely to run blank forks than put KYB decals onto something they were paying to use.

Perhaps Chase wanted to try KYB stuff and KTM wasn't going for it. So he went out and bought his own and showed KTM he was faster on them at a test session?

If it had not been reported on by everybody and their mother that he was using KYB stuff , inside  WP stuff  , THEN I would see it as a big deal and perhaps Chase doing it as some sort of message. It's his Dad selling the stuff. Maybe his Dad just wants to get rid of it ? Who knows how long its been sitting in his way or perhaps they just want to get totally away from everything KTM. It was pretty clear he wanted to leave. Just like with Honda. I think that anybody who follows the sport well enough to know that KYB stuff is a big deal, also knows that Chase was unhappy at KTM.

I guess that if some people see it as a dig towards KTM, than it is. These days perception is reality and if enough people see it as something it might as well be. I can see why the OP thinks it is a dig. I just disagree. The MC and Tomac analogies' are not even close . RC selling a pallet of Bridgestone tires after signing with Suzuki would have been a better comparison.

To me, it just shows how hard Chase was trying to make it work at KTM.  I don't think its a bad look for KTM or WP. 99% of people that are buying and riding KTM's might even be slower if they ran his settings. And I think that most people that are really into the sport ( that would know that its a big deal for KYB stuff to be on the bike) know this already and it makes it less of a big deal as a result.

Chase doesn’t owe KTM anything once his contract is up.  I don’t understand why people think he owes his past employer homage.  He doesn’t.  It’s over.

Correct, KYB is not a supplier to the team.

Hence why KTM will not be happy that Chase is openly displaying that his suspension of choice during his tenure with them was something else.
