Pulp Sludge

I was wondering if anyone has ever used pulp sludge on their dirt bike tracks. We live in Alberta and our dirt is almost pure clay. I want to try and add something to the corners to help break it up. We do have tilling equipment to mix it in. When you get the sludge from the pulp mill it really stinks. They tell me it will dissipate in a couple days. Wondering if anyone has experience with it. Thanks

Yes it’s pretty brutal, but they say it won’t last. I’m not sure

There’s a great track up in Albany, Oregon…there’s a mill across the road…at least there was back when I raced there…

That mill smelled like ASS! 🤣

Based on that…IF there’s a way to treat that pulp excrement and then mix it in some of the dirt you've got…and then PROVE TO YOURSELF that the “Stank Ass” is gone…

Then, and only then, I’d say,”Maybe”.

Now, all joking aside: I’m kinda stoked to see someone being so resourceful on the matter of making a better track.

Wood chips, sand, and hay is all I've seen mixed in. I hate the wood chips because they're slick and the slivers migrate everywhere. Hay is slick when wet too, and can get caught up in sprockets and cause problems. It takes a lot of sand to work, and that does change the nature of the track, but I like that better than hay and wood chips.

I've never seen pulp sludge, just smelled it. I'll pass!

I lived near a mill that made this shit in FL. You don't get used to the smell, it's god awful.

I remember that smell. That mill is either closed or no longer smelly. I'm a regular at the Albany track.

The Pulp Plant is long gone!!  The only good thing about the stinky plant was the tall towers and how the discharge affected incoming wet weather from the SW!  More times than not the rain missed the track entirely😁

The Camas Pulp mill from my memory seemed to be way worse before they fixed their ventilation system.

Bunkerhill MX track in Delta Utah used to use the manure from the dairy farm next door and mix it in the dirt.  Pro's going out first practice was literally a shit show. loved that track but getting some fresh dung in the mouth was less than ideal. i would hop out before they started letting us loose so i didn't have to follow anyone. it was bad. couldn't wash that shit off your bike or gear.
