Deegan had surgery and still wants to race MXON?

What are the realistic odds that Deegan can still race MXON? A plated collarbone is good to go once it’s got the plate in it right? You just need the incision to heal? Technically he could probably get through the weekend and then let the hardware properly heal up after if he kept her up on two wheels? It’s not like him being off the bike for two weeks is going to slow him down any. I wonder if this is a risk he wants to take?

Not watching that but no way. Even if he's fully healthy we don't need that fool representing the US

This is so stupid. We'd rather lose on our own home soil? If he can ride, he's easily the better Ironman choice on a 250 right now. I'm paying a lot of money to go watch nations. I want a USA win not a lucky to hit the podium team.

If I heard things right on pulp they don't want him on the team. Thats probably why they said deegan and sexton out for mxon directly after the race on the broadcast.

Yeah well if he’s in or going to try & I’m j coop then I’m out. I’m not putting in 2 weeks on a 250 in my only window for a break if I’m Deegan’s back up. J coop is already committed to multiple overseas sx races & been racing all 31 rounds so he could use the time off. Not be prepared “just in case.”

If Eli had gotten hurt instead would Deegan have backed out of the race again?

I would suggest that if he can ride and there is even a hint of negative effect from the collarbone surgery, whether mental or physical, JCoop is the better choice.  If Deegan is 100% I agree with you.  I don't think I want to see team USA take that risk.  Go with JCoop, and lock it in TODAY, he's proven what he can do on a 250 at des Nations.

The only way we win is a 250 class win. RJ and ElI combined aren't beating Hunter and Jett. Maybe Eli can split them. I am not confident Justin Cooper can win the class. Anything else we don't win.

Just think if he comes back and wins MX2 class, then tells all the doubters to suck it. You guys will lose your minds.

He had a minor surgery last year and couldn't go. I'd rather lose respectfully than win looking like a clown show.

Agree 100%... I was at Redbud in '18 and watched the USA come up short.  In '22 at Redbud the pride and excitement displayed when we won was off the charts and was probably the best event I have ever witnessed.  I paid a bunch of money as did friends flying in to hopefully see USA win again on home soil.  I want our best riders period....  Deegan was a complete asshole in Vegas but the fact remains he is our best rider on the 250's.  I don't understand how any American would be happy with settling for a USA loss just because they hate a rider.

Don’t agree with the moves at Vegas but was really looking forward to see how he would do at this event.

Awesome.  So I wasn't imagining things working in the garage late. The other stories from that day he should get some kind of other penalty until he can act like a respectable adult. A race suspension might make him think.

Many years ago, Tyler Bowers broke his collarbone practicing on a Tuesday, had it plated on Thursday, then raced  AX that weekend.   He was off his normal  pace, but won the title that year.  Deegan will not be able to ride at 100%.

To each their own. I feel that it is a massive honor AND responsibility to represent the US on an international stage. After his BS in Vegas, I don't want him representing us

We don't need numb nuts, we have J-Coop, RJ and Eli. Have faith in our team man, don't go full Deegan and start talking that dumb shit.

You don't think JCoop can win the class?  Did you watch him in 2022?  He went 9-4...  P1 in MX2, a stellar ride for a modern MXoN.  I'd suggest that he is still vastly better than AUS's 250 guy.

The level of personal people let this kid make them feel about things is unhinged. Vegas was a bad look, but everything else in the body of work tells you he's the best bet we have to win the class at nations. It's a pretty objective point

I heard that to, they don't want Deegan healthy or not.

There’s been a recent trend of guys getting the collarbone fixed then racing shortly after.  I suck but I was still on a track a week out of surgery.

There’s really not a better rider to represent America though!  If he doesn’t have the speed he can slow back and cause chaos or take a faster rider out!  That is racing at its core, first across the line wins!

Jcoop could consistent himself to an overall and would certainly beat Webster but without Chase we need a Villopoto type ride for us to have a shot and that's just not JCoops DNA.

HD vs KDW would be a good watch.

Also this is another reason!

if Deegs can ride, send him + Eli + JCoop.

i may be cynical here, but this seems a lot like last year where what was put out online, was very different to what was said to the team

I was critical of his tactics Saturday  but if he's healthy enough to give us the best chance to win he should be on the team in my opinion.

Showing up with a plated collarbone would make him an even bigger target. He wouldn't make it through practice without being "accidentally" ran into by anyone other than a team USA rider
