What does “place deficit” mean?
If you finish 14 after starting 4th, that is a 10 position deficit.
Cool stats to look at. Marchbanks was a killer!
I don't believe I've seen these stats before, thank you!
Biggest surprise to me was Jo.

Not very "satisfied" with Paturel and Vialle's stats...
Kobusch may have lost the most positions in the 250 class but he still has my respect for those two laps.
It would be interesting to see Vince Friese's position deficit over his career.
Love the stats, but do they count dnf? Cairolli being on the list caught my attention. If only doing 2 rounds, it would be difficult to get passed that much unless your bike broke down and you lost a bunch of spots.
It does appear to count DNFs, it would be hard and unfair to exclude them. I'm not sure how many DNFs Ray had but Prado had one (here are his moto scores 7-6-12-5-8-39-12-23-5-6-7-5-12-5-8-19-5-6-15-12-11-12).
Jeremy Hand had at least one, very spectacular DNF, glad he was able to escape major injury.
Those are solid facts.
My interpretation is that RJ had an ever better year than his finishes - leading to rookie of the year - would indicate.
Hard to say if Jo lost the championship on starts. Deegan not much better and he won nearly a race early.
Who’s not on the list? The Lawrence bros. Start up front, stay up front.
