Supper happy for him! Says he might take number 10? Hymas didn’t get enough points to keep the number 10? Does anybody know the reason the #10 is open?

He's taking 36... It's open because JB retired and Hymas didn't score enough points to keep it

Hymas didn't have a career number. Brayton retired, 10 was the highest number available and it was assigned to him.

I thought they said he's taking #39 for Aidan Zingg. I kind of find it lazy when someone has an earned number and then just chooses it as their career number (Justin Hill #46, Christian Craig #28), because I like when riders have an attachment or a story behind their number. But G's concidentally had #36 and #26 so many times in his career it seems like he might as well just keep it.

He said he may take 20 to honor Tickle. I think he's crazy if he doesn't take 10.

Carrer numbers for a 250 guy that's never won a title or race for that matter is pretty stupid, Marchbanks rode great this year nothing against him but it's bizarre.

I agree with you in theory, but he did win Daytona SX a million years ago.

Good for him. I'd like to see him get that other 450 Kawi ride.

Forkner is a bizarre one with how many wins he has, but no career number.

Agreed

What’s the reason that Marchbanks is getting a career % ?

He should at least get a Trophy for passing more riders than anyone.

Tough to finish top 10 when you rarely finish a season

Very happy for him for earning a career number. Seems like he put his head down and just went to work in California with Tickle and it paid off for him. Never really saw him get tired or stop charging.

Is there a total number of how many riders he did pass this MX season, I heard it was at 170 a race or 2 ago?

That's true but it wasn't this year which makes its pretty irrelevant. I don't think race wins warrant Carrer numbers though. Like i said dude rips but not enough to hold a number forever

Everyone gets a trophy!

Harsh I know but in Moto, only Champions earned a permanent number.

PS, GM is a bad dude on a bike, he passed 207 people this year!

Agreed. He's a farm boy that grew up having to earn his bikes, and he certainly gives it his all and never quits, plus he's damn fast. Just that teensy weensy little issue regarding crossing the finish under the checkers.

He came so close in 2018.  He finished 11th in points, 17 points behind Savatgy.

In 2016 he finished 13th despite not racing SX that year. (That was his first pro season.)

Earn his bikes? He was a team green rider his whole career wasn’t he?

No in fact he won his first two amateur titles on 85cc Suzukis. Those are probably the bikes he was referring to in an interview that he had to earn, but I'm assuming that part.

good for marchbanks. glad he may be getting the 450 kawi ride. he's one of those dudes who has not lived up to his potential and the 450 would be easier for that.

same with someone like drew adams. i think these bigger guys really do suffer a disadvantage on the 250s even if they are more talented than the competition.
