The better question is why do I open dumb threads. I've looked at way too many this week.

Absolutely. Watching supposedly adult men meltdown over the thumbs down they get on a motocross forum is hilarious.

Grown men actually have meltdowns over it? I haven't seen that yet. Smile

A few have even gone full-manifesto…claiming they were leaving…but…

They’re still here. In “multiples” in some cases! 🤣

It kind of does. It's like when some 70 year old lady flashes her titties, ya gotta look, even so you know you may/probably don't like what you're going to see, ya still gotta look. LOL

Sometimes, you do get rewarded though.

Just now as well (#10) i’d use it more if it  wasn’t anonymous. I’m no Internet bad ass, but it’s kind of chicken shit when it’s  anonymous. It would be more fun if it wasn’t. Plus probably generate more drama (ie:”clicks”) Clicks keep the lights on right ? Let’s see em !

I remember when they first implemented it there was a way to see who clicked thumbs down. I don't think they intended it and they quickly fixed it. Smile I was disappointed when the thumbs up/down buttons came.

Do you use the thumbs down button?

Yeah....just tried it on you and it worked you ol knob,

Sure I use them. To me its a simple way of saying I agree/dissagree without having to quote the person and make another useless post.

But I get the feeling others view the like/dislike button in a more extreme way.

It is the "You are the biggest piece of shit and an embarrassment to the sport please kill yourself" button.

and...

"You are so cool, I wish I was you, please feel free to have sex with my girl" button.

No. If I disagree with someone, I'll come right out and and say it respectfully.

I get that. But sometimes (most of the time depending on who you disagree with it) it can turn into a useless back n forth with no effort put forth towards any common ground.

I used to  engage in it but I came to the conclusion it wasn't doing me any good plus the older I get the more I recognize I'm not as smart as I wish.

So i just down vote rather then engage and create a nemesis that is like a message board gnat always flying in your face.

I don't use the thumbs down button.

Every once in a blue moon it'll give someone a thumbs up; usually for something funny or because of a polite exchange.

I see what you did there. Oooohhhh, you're a sneaky one there Void. Golf claps.

Hay.... seriously, I live by the credo/slogan, (whatever you want to call it), "Make one person smile every day or better yet laugh and you have made the world a better place".

As corny as that sounds i believe it.

The funny thing is, getting hidden will probably have the opposite effect of what is intended by hiding it. Barbara Streisand knows.
