I’ve been lucky picking up 5 sets of just the forks only for $200-300.

Any time you can get them below $300 you are doing good. Specially if you need any spares or what to try different valved or sprung setups without taking the forks apart trackside.

Just what I was looking to do to my 2018 . Before I drop a grr on this please clarify:

1) This mos gives my bike the flatter tank to seat profile as well as the slimmer side panel and tank shroud  profile ?

2) Would rather go OEM but I can get the plastics from Decal Works (who I've uses several times ?

Thanks in advance ,

It feels like a whole new bike when you do it seat is super flat and you sit on top of the bike vs in the bike

I used the 110$ cycra plastics with no issues and it makes each shroud 5mm less wider if you have the 1400$ it’s the best mode I feel like

My only gripe with the update is that the seat overall is thinner. With the old style, my knees would grip the seat. Now I just got some slick plastics trying to hold me on. A little clear grip tape fixed it. I went with polisport plastics and they have worked just fine.

If you have a bike older than 2014, you will need to drill new holes in the front fender. Not a big deal, just don't throw away the old fender until you trace the holes.

Hey Charles! Would you be able to give us an updated parts list as some of the numbers have changed or been discontinued? Thanks!

Hey Guys,

Happy Friday.

This isn't a bike build exactly, but this section seemed like an appropriate place to share this info...(it will be a build soon, however!)

I recently converted my old 2003 steel framed YZ250 into what looks like a 2022 model using all the newest OEM body components. So I thought I'd share all my findings for others that wish to do the same.

It's very easy as some may have already guessed & there is really only one caveat for steel framed YZ owners. You have to remove a little material from the subframe for steelies. Video details where to remove a little aluminum.

What you'll need to convert your 02-21 YZ into a 2022 body equipped beauty:

Quick note...

-This is a list of OEM's you need that will pair with some of your existing YZ's fasteners.

Example: Your 2002-2021 rear fender uses two threaded inserts & bolts on the upper & inner fender-to-subframe mounting locations. One holds your silencer too, for reference.

However, on the 2022 model, the rear fender uses 4 of these fastener setups instead of 2. The rear number plates are now bolted to the rear fender below the mounts I previously spoke about above.

So if you're ordering based off of my list, be sure to add the two extra bolts & fasteners if you want to replace & not re-use your existing stuff.

Long story short- mind the quantities of things as you add them to your cart.

I tried to keep the mod as cost effective as possible & omitted "extras" if the old YZ already had them, since most bikes are not "full builds".

I also did not purchase the tuning fork logo/ sticker that goes onto the seat mounting access cap. (see in video)

Hi Charles! I saw your video a while ago and might do this to my 2003. Thanks for writing everything up!

A related question, what skidplate did you use?

Hey Adam after ordering the sub frame, seat, air box, and gas tank will 22-24 oem plastics work or is it still necessary to order a restyle kit?

I have several. They go from $350 to $3500 depending on a lot of different factors :-) Shoot me a PM with your info & I'll call you to discuss options.

I just put the polisport restyle together yesterday. The tank was a really tight fit on my 03. Someone that did an aluminum bike said it fit fine. I had to drill the front fender and the front plate isn’t tall enough to sit down on the lower pins. As far as I know Scrub design Europe is the only one selling the kit. I ordered from his eBay store and it took less than a week to get to California. The seat and tank seem to be pretty good but I haven’t ridden it or even put gas in it yet.

I am considering this upgrade for my 2020 YZ125 after my wife told me my bike was ugly.

Does anybody have any 1st hand input on how my 2020 silencer will attach to the 2022 sub-frame? I am in the market for the PC R304

bottom mount is the same, top mount is different, as long as you run a "shorty" its all good.    we've used the polisport kit with good results. Had 1 bike with all 24 oem parts (tank, subframe, etc) and one with polisport and they felt the same. My brother likes the polisport seat too, so win win.

Has your experience been with the YZ125 or the YZ250. Or both.

I am seeing part numbers that are a different for the 21/22 for the 125, and it seems the same part numbers for the 250.

I appreciate the thought, and help.
