Hahah thanks but I would need a rider. I’m sure if Broc Glover rode this thing today he would smoke me on my modern bike.

Nice work with the silencer! Don't you prefer a welded bracket instead of the riveted one?

Yeah, Initially I was going to weld a bracket on but I may do a carbon one instead. I still haven’t decided. I need to replace the aluminum part because it’s kinda rough. But dang I didn’t realize how hard it is to find 2.750 (70mm) 6061 tube. It’s $80 for 2ft. And 2ft is the minimum they will order at our local supplier. I could get titanium sheet cheaper but I don’t have a slip roll to roll it that tight.

I didn’t take any pics but I had to machine out the rear brake hub and put in a bearing so it’s now floating. Major pain in the ass. Then make a brake arm that goes to the frame that attaches with a billet clevis I made. Then came the brake pedal disaster. I had to knock out the original pin (was too short), make a new one in the lathe that was longer and weld it in. That way the pedal spring has a place to go. I still have some tweaking to do. Waiting on a brake rod to see what else I have to modify

Got a little more done on the bike. Finished up the brake rod and brake hub support. Anodized it black along with wheel spacers and axle blocks (need to order axles ).IMG 3743 2.jpeg?VersionId=IMG 3744 1.jpeg?VersionId=qOFtsnsv3A6sgc7SkZkWSxK.J

Also got my airbox done. Decided to 3d print instead of carbon. Just too many angles to lay in carbon. I made a billet flange for the carb boot and filter. Keep in mind the bike is still in mock up stages

Lastly I cleaned up the miller porcupine head I had. It was in really rough shape. It’s not perfect but I think it’s good enough to run. If i decide to race the bike, I may chance the head back IMG 3740 7.jpeg?VersionId=GzdnpPU3QFFPgh02SnnWN qGD4

Getting close. Had throttle jockey make me a seat cover out of the modern gripper material. Along with a more modern foam from bald spot sports. Also made an insert/ seal that seals the number plate to the air box

Stunningly beautiful, and your skills are beyond impressive !  Beautiful rendition of a motorbike that I consider to be from the “ Golden Age “ of Motocross.

Thanks for the kind words. Once I have the axles made and put some backgrounds on the bike it’s pretty much done. The billet triple clamps will be a winter project. I just started it for the first time. Man it sounds amazing. Very responsive with the lectron carb.

Need some axles and I would say it’s pretty much done for now. I’ll take better pics of when I get some time

Beautiful work hb! This was the first real motocross bike I ever rode. 16 year old kid going from a Honda SL100 (street enduro) to YZ125. Scared the hell out of me but was hooked thereafter. The next year I a bought my first mx bike to go racing - YZ250D. Great memories.

Wow!

A friend got one of these back in 1977, we did a refresh on it in the summer of 1978. He bought a set of standard air caps for the forks and pitched the big canisters in the trash, it didn’t cross my mind for 3 decades that maybe we should have kept those.

Well done 👍

I have a few nagging questions for guys the restore vintage bikes.

1. Time

2. Cost

3. Yours looks to nice to get it dirty, so do you plan on track riding or racing it or will it be a floor piece...to admire.

4. What do you think the estimated value would be.

If you don't answer any... I get it 😂

Porkypine head, that couldn't have been easy to find.

Thank you! I’ll do my best to answer.
1. I have no idea on hours. I worked on this bike on and off for 2 years. It would set for months at a time without me even looking at it. So much stuff was hand made that I had to do a lot of planning.
2. The bike was given to me which it was a complete basket case. I would say I have $6500 in parts and materials. Still need to spend another $500 to $1000 to have axles and billet triple clamps made.
3. Originally I wanted to race this bike at the Red Bull day in the dirt. But I don’t know what I’m going to do. It runs soo good.
4. Value is the hard question. With all labor, this bike would have cost someone 15-20k to have built. Personally I would be thrilled to get 10k for it. What it would sell for? Probably 5 or 6k. At the end of the day it’s not a good vintage race bike for specific classes.
