Seen a lot of vids pop up on Youtube from  AJ Catanzaro regarding this topic. He thinks women are gonna narrow the gap between them and male riders a whole bunch in the near future. He even eluded to a top 20 finish at a National.

Some of those girls/ladies are fast, very fast.
Didnt Vicky Golden qualify for a national awhile back? Maybe it was aomeone else.
I do hope the AMA keeps this ladies class in support of the nationals.  Its a win-win.

A handful of ladies doing gncc that are insanely fast too.

Keep it up ladies!!

This will show how fast these girls are on a rough track vs the pros. Glad to see this. Should bring more fans to the girls.

I'd love to get excited about WMX but I can't. Hell, my kid has raced 2 of these gals in mixed classes fairly recently and beat them both. And he's just a decently quick C class kid that wouldn't qualify in a LLRQ. It's like women's basketball - I just can't care because the level is so far below the men. Yeah, I know most of these gals can whoop my ass but I'm old and slow. Before I got old I was young and slow.

I watch sports to see the best do what they do. Women's skiing and tennis I've enjoyed (Steffi Graf and Serena Williams!) but most other women's sports bore me. Even women's moto. I have 3 daughters so I'm not anti-women by any means. It's just physics.

The gate had 16 riders. The top 5 all sent the biggest jump on the track. Many of the SMX / combine riders didn’t. I agree there is a delta between the top of that grid and the back but that’s racing. I’m not becoming less interested because someone riding at the back half of the field is being beat by your son.

You do you. The level of riding is too weak to attract my interest. Top 5 are decent but they’d get smoked by our local 250B...

You do you. The level of riding is too weak to attract my interest. Top 5 are decent but they’d get smoked by our local 250B class. And 15 on the gate? Like an MXGP fly-away race.

I remember Patterson and Fiolek and the days when they raced on Saturday in between motos. Enjoyed women’s downhill with Giove and Furtado and Donovan. Current WMX is a pale shadow in comparison.

You should have your local B class get their pro license. They must be faster than Shimoda.

Lol. I’m all for the girls rippin (they’re flying bad) but we need to do a better comparison. WMX qualifier was after the lcqs. so can’t really just look at Q1 which was a Mud Bog from hours before. Can’t even really look at Q2 honestly. They had B group then 2 LCQs still after that.

The WMX practice was also 10 min long so I’d say they weren’t even that dialed in.

Closest Comparison would be 250 moto 2 to WMX Moto. They spot prepped a few sections but not a lot. I’d also say where they didn’t prep was far worse after a 30 + 2. Most people run their fast laps early in the race.

Lala a 2:22. Faster than several riders in 250 moto 2. Pretty impressive.

Oh I know its not a fair comparison but saying the local b class would beat all the women is crazy talk. This was also a crazy comparison but it gives you an idea. Some of these wmx girls races the b classes and pro sport classes at lorettas. Heck jordan was racing pro nationals. No local b class is racing pro nationals let alone qualifying for pro sport.

You are correct sir.   Hard to swallow our pride somedays, more difficult admitting many of these ladies would beat us even when we were in our prime.
Have to give credit where credit is due.
Keep it up ladies.

Jordan will be racing highpoint this weekend. Who knows if she'll make it since she's still pretty banged up from getting landed on. Turner is going to race the combine at redbud so we will get to see what she can do against the young talent. I think the Charlie girl from Australia might be the fastest but she has a busted up finger that looks pretty gnarly.

All very pleasant and enthusiastic during interviews.  Do women just not let any pressure get to them?

On race day, I wasnt rude to anyone but also didnt want to talk to anyone. Besides that, always had to know where the nearest shitter was 20 minutes before gate drop. We’ve all been there, like a nervous dog.

She said she'll be racing B class next year along with SMX Next Combines as well as SMX Next SX.

She got 9th in one of the motos of 250 B Limited at Loretta this year.

Dang, I was looking forward to watching this today, pretty disappointed they cut it to 4mins or whatever it was. If they want women's mx to grow they've got to start treating it like a professional sport and giving them the attention and PAY they deserve. Props to the women who are doing it, but lets be real, even if your folks are loaded who can even afford to chase the dream of being a professional dirt bike rider with payouts like this? 1st - $300  2nd - $200  3rd - $125  4th - $75  5th - $50. Wow congrats you were the best female athlete in the country on a dirt bike today here's $600, thanks for spending the $3k on the weekend to compete. Ridiculous.

I was surprised when kyleigh stallings walked up to the podium, shes tiny! Shes at a massive disadvantage to the other riders being so small, but she still rips! Being that small and ripping a (250?) the way she does is impressive.

Also Lala is a beast!

Some years ago, Millville, had the worst gate pick ever.  On the far right.  Had a first gen kxf 250 that was so down on compression that I had to push start the bike to the line.
the rider next to me was a lady, super fast brother and a fast boyfriend.
She was to my right.
We both came to a stop on the start.  Got pinched off.
Maybe 25 guys staryed this +25 A race.
I know I was in 5th on the way out of the whoops.
Ended the race with a rider on my rear fender.
It was this lady.  She high fived me and said we rocked.
It was a hell of a race for me, but this young lady was right there.
I know her name and I always wondered what happened to her.

Did anyone catch Charli Cannons mechanic brushing dirt onto the riders gate next to her during the restart?

Shelly Kann? In the 90s her and her brother would do some D16 races and she was pretty fast
