Trump has been hinting at issuing rebate checks. Lung can I have yours if it actually happens since you dislike Trump so much?

I love how just because I don't worship him and every word that comes out of his mouth like some of you losers I'm a hater.

I'm sorry that I don't base every decision in my life based on what Daddy Donald tells me like some of you do, I choose to be a real man and think for myself.  Maybe someday you should man up and try that out.

I’d just like to hear the alternatives to Trump’s plan to deal with the Debt. I think some of these posters get carried away with Trump hate fury and can’t get past themselves to say, “Okay, if we got rid of Trump, what would be our plan?”

But, there are no alternatives given. I would seriously like to hear what everyone hates so bad about the current plan. Then, if it’s so horrible, what’s the alternative?

Also, what other person has a better plan, either Dem or Republican?

I guess that’s what’s irritating with the TDSers. They’re just filled with rage and hate, a dont care about anything but “Destroy Trump at all costs!!!” Okay, what’s your plan afterwards?

Trump's first term he increased our debt by over $2 trillion, while Biden managed to reduce it by almost $1 trillion, love him or hate him aside.

Trump's current policy approach is projected to increase our debt by more than his previous numbers.

What is his plan to address our deficit? His tariff game? Shipping all the illegal immigrants back home?

Him swiftly ending the EV shit is also projected to cost US auto mfgs a ton of money (it already has), love or hate EVs. Just as his tariff strategy is costing them a ton of money already.

I don't love either of them, I just want to see our country headed on a healthy, sustainable track.

EDIT - I do agree with you though, this past election cycle Democrats were so obsessed with 'Trump Bad' that they didn't do a great job communicating a plan. Whereas Trump and Co had a very polished plan 'Project 2025'. And while he distanced himself from it while running, they have executed by this very strategy in incredibly quick fashion thus far.

Hell, his Scotland jaunt is costing US Taxpayers $10M alone.

So the tariff’s are a horrible idea? How bad of an idea is it really? Why is it so horrible?

So what do you think would be better? Who’s got a better plan? Should we just do nothing? It’s funny how Biden can only be brought up in a positive spin, otherwise, it’s “why do yall keep bringing up Biden?” There’s a whole lot that happened under Biden that cost the economy, but I’ll save that.

Alright, so what would be a better plan for - the debt, immigration, doge, etc? Let’s hear some alternatives.

Tariffs are a massive tax increase on us. If you support that, cool that’s fine. Unpopular opinion I’d say but cool. What would you like your extra taxes you’ll be paying to be used on?

So what’s your alternative? What candidate today from your side is proposing something different? Keep in mind, the Dems pushed for tariffs years ago. Also, what was the reason for the tariffs? Was Trump wrong on the reasoning?

You have to be careful on NYT a good majority of their news is pretty slanted.

So, what’s a good alternative to the tariffs? Wawa’s the reasoning behind them a good reason? What about the possibility of them working? What other media source, candidate, or organization has a better plan to deal with the trade imbalance? Should the US do nothing and continue on like nothing will happen? What will happen if the debt is not addressed?

Before I engage in a civil discussion, I just have a quick question to make sure we are in the same reality. Who legitimately won the last 5 US Presidential Elections? I’ll go first. Obama, Obama, Trump, Biden, Trump.

For the record I think a lot of Trump's 2016 tarriff strategy was actually pretty good. They were aimed at returning some mfg processes here in a somewhat realistic way.

What trade imbalance?

The globalization efforts were largely driven by us over several decades. While other countries have absolutely benefited, nobody has benefited more than us. The problem is, the distribution of wealth within our country has become increasingly focused to a smaller minority at the top as a result.

Why are you so worried about that?

You’ve offered no solution to Trumps policies; just redirection. Nothin? You’ve got no alternative plan to the tariffs?

At least MT-G said, there is no trade problem. There is no debt. Lol

I keep waiting for someone to say, “Obama, Trump, and Biden don’t even really exist.”

So you’re saying that no other country (China included) puts any fees, any added costs, or any up charge at all on any US goods? What’s your source?

Doesn’t matter. If the tariffs are a horrible idea, and there’s absolutely no national debt, and Biden was the best president ever for our economy, the. We have nothing to worry about?

Cool, so how much surplus do we have, because I was under the impression that we had a national debt? So we don’t need any changes to get any type of revenue going in US? That’s so weird that everyone is lying.

‘Don’t need any type of revenue going into the US.’

It’s not foreign money coming in when the money is coming out of Tax payers pockets.

I’m not an economist but if trump added 2 trillion to the debt and Biden reduced it by 1 trillion it doesn’t take a genius to figure out who was better at reducing the national debt.

So, we need absolute nothing for the economy. We don’t have a budget Robles with our national debt. The US need absolutely no governance of any kind, and doesn’t even really need a president right now. We have plenty of goood jobs. What do we produce that other countries buy?

Wow, I didn’t realize that we needed absolutely nothing.

So everything that Trump has done was completely not necessary.

Why did Biden try to increase the economy if we didnt need it or actually need anything?

I'll give this a shot. I have typed all this here before but it was closer to the election and I don't think anyone wanted to hear it.

For the record I am only being critical of President Trumps tariff and trade policies. And I will only be able to give examples from my field, which is T&D and Energy Infrastructure.

The way President Trump is working, it is impossible for corporations to plan large scale projects because they cannot gauge risk of material cost or import laws. Had there been a framework of a plan released, listing out the strategy and goals, everything would have probably been fine. But the reality, and we have lobbyists in DC, is that no one really knows what the end game is. Or how long its going to take. This is pushing projects out, or canceling some projects all together. The result is Electricians, Iron Workers, and Operators loosing long term jobs that offer great pay. It is a very real problem, that hasn't really manifested yet, but it will if nothing changes.

In comparison, and I am by no means a Biden supporter, Biden had a much more predictable plan that accomplished what the stated goal of the Trump administration is. And again, I am only talking about my sector.

What the Biden administration did, under the Inflation Reduction Act, was put rules on the tax credits all corporations and investment firms use to build large scale projects. Particularly as it related to renewable energy project which actually are creating the most jobs in a lot of areas. In order to qualify for tax credits, they put in place rules that mandated all projects use a majority percentage of Domestic Content Material. Which had already had most manufactures moving production of material back state side. More importantly, all labor has to be Union, or prevailing wage with an approved apprenticeship provision. This is why most union leadership was till supporting Biden despite the wishes of the rank and file. Biden was in fact much better for US Labor than the Trump administration in terms of supporting wages. The Trump administration is more in favor of Right to Work.

Anyway, the world is much bigger than my field. And neither administration was great at everything. But in my view, neither is "the worst administration ever". But the notion that President Trump is the first to try to fix these issues just simply not true.

How should Trump change his policies to get it closer to Biden’s in order to fix the National Debt?

Im curious on the impact of Biden’s policies on the National Debt?

My perspective is more about Blue collar jobs. The markets are all doing great, and the investor class is all doing well.

What I think this administration needs to be better at is planning what they are going to do, share those plans with the effected industries, and give us a chance to plan based on those plans. Its what usually happens and its important as the "trickle down" of all this takes time.

I get the administration wanting to make things happen fast, but the economy is not a speed boat, and the working class will potentially be effected the most by all this. But it takes time for that to settle out.

Okay, cool. I don’t understand all that, but good job.

How should Trump change his policies to get it closer to Biden’s in order to fix the National Debt?

Im curious on the impact of Biden’s policies on the National Debt?

Fed will always be an expensive effort. Our policies haven't done us any favors, and it's the folks in the middle largely footing the bill here. This needs to be corrected. Our country has been shipping jobs and IP off to other countries for decades. We break up with China? Fine. Problem is the sourcing gurus will look for next best cost country and it isn't us. And breaking up with China is realistically a decade + effort. If anything, the Pandemic woke people up to how fragile global supply chain is, and companies were adamantly trying to de-risk supply chains. And even with that wake up call we are still where we are.

Trump poured a bunch of rage bait on an already front of mind issue for most competent companies, except he peppered in chaos with no clear path or structure.

Couple this with administrations flip flopping on policy, and we are burning money like nobody's business. Things don't change on a dime, we need consistency, and our terribly divided political arena is fucking us over big time, while the swamp pads their own pockets.

I've posted this before but I'll show it again. This is individuals. Corporations pay peanuts relative to what is earned. I can't say the same for myself, I (and most of us) get raped on taxes.

EDIT - @Last2Stroke posted a better example. We are all saying the same thing. This is a good sign.

Now, which one of us nimrods is going to enter the political arena? Joe Biden can ride a bike...let's get a president that rips two strokes...

Haha, same. My worst mtb crashes aren't on technical steep trails, it's when I'm almost back at the truck...Or when I go out and play ride on moto vs banging out long focused motos...

Agreed on your communism sentiment. The two party system has been hurting us for a long time. We all need to compromise and pick from these two shitty options. We need to find a way to make our system for the people, by the people. As you said earlier, there will always be compromise. We need to shed this unhealthy Divided States of America and figure out how to be the United States of America. Right now it's not this, regardless of what we're lead to believe.

But, this isn't our first rodeo, and we're a damn resilient bunch.

A good leader plants seeds for trees in which their shade he may never see...or some shit like that.

EDIT - I think I see toe clips on his bike in that...who the fuck was looking out for the old guy? They spend millions doing this, and couldn't give him a decent bike setup...

Yeah, like your civil postings during the braggo show trial.

At least MT-G said, there is no trade problem. There is no debt. Lol

I keep waiting for someone to say, “Obama, Trump, and Biden don’t even really exist.”

Figured you couldn’t answer it 😂

You have to be careful on NYT a good majority of their news is pretty slanted.

So, what’s a good alternative to the tariffs? Wawa’s the reasoning behind them a good reason? What about the possibility of them working? What other media source, candidate, or organization has a better plan to deal with the trade imbalance? Should the US do nothing and continue on like nothing will happen? What will happen if the debt is not addressed?

What will happen if the debt is not addressed?”

Do you actually believe that the Trump budget cuts the national debt?  It doesn’t even reduce the annual deficit, let alone begin to reduce the debt.  It decreases revenue and increases spending. Think about that.

The blanket tariffs applied are nothing more than a tax on the consumers of the goods. If we are going to increase taxes, it would be far better to return to the progressive tax policies of the 50s and 60s than to rely on a regressive tax scheme that trade tariffs create.

Tariffs have their place, but it isn’t being the primary taxation source for a nation, especially a nation like ours. Tariffs should be applied when goods from another country are artificially supported by government subsidies that make for an uneven competition between producers. Think of the squabbles between Boeing and Airbus over the years. The other main reason for tariffs would be to reduce the ‘dumping’ of products at cost or below into a country because of overproduction or reduced domestic demand. This is common with some commodities like lumber, grain, and produce goods.

Just to be clear, nothing about the new budget helps reduce either the deficit or the debt. If you are supporting it because you believe that to be true, I think that you need to go beyond a sensational headline and do more actual reading. Maybe something other than Newsmax…..!
