I don’t think theres even the slightest chance that Matthes wins this.  Not because of him, but because I truly believe there is something more than good bike setup and rider skill allowing the Hunter brothers to make holeshots look so easy.  And with that, I don’t think Lars or Honda Honda Racing Corporation wants it to appear as if their bike has that kind of advantage, and whatever secret sauce, electronics or wizardry will be deactivated for this “challenge”.

JT could wear 2 50 pound weight belts to keep power to weight ratio even, and still smoke Matthes.

15 years of pro gate drops. It'll be "great radio bro" but it's no real contest.

I agree. No way Steve beats a pro.

Have you seen the videos lately of Matthes riding? He's a total SPODE. No way he is winning. And he can't launch a bike straight off the line to save his life.

I think it's JT, but I also think it's sorta bullshit that he wants the holeshot line to be where it is for the actual event. The point of this exercise is to see how effective the factory bike is off of the start, not off of the start and through two turns. It's silly to think that a vet B rider would ever beat an ex pro if turns are also involved. But don't get me wrong, my money is still on JT even with the shorter start. Maybe...maybe.... on the short start Steve lucks into 1 out of 5? Probably not though.

Are you implying that HRC are cheating?

No surprise. $Jt would have had him beat by the 1st yard out of the gate.

Now for just the subtle one off backhanded jab $Jt will throw in the review show followed by his higher ground stance haha

No way it’s even close. Jt could start on a cr85 and still win.

There’s zero chance HRC reveals anything about what they are doing.

I recall JT insisting on the race holeshot line around the first turn. Even in a straight line no way Steve wins against JT though.

I'm betting Hunta will holeshot tomorrow since Steve made his bike look slow...

You have issues.

I watched it live and it wasn’t even close. On the third one Steve got a good jump, but JT’s experience paid off.

JT literally smoked him all theee times.

Hunter did a smoking start on his bike right before Matthes got on it, so that puts an end to the ‘HRC will just disconnect their technology on the factory bike’ conspiracy talk.

7/18/2025 10:22pm

Would like to see JT do a lap. I’ll bet he’d get the itch to start riding again…
