Hey Washington friends I’m driving up from NorCal to BC for a trip and we’re gonna be in Seattle for a couple days, what do you locals think the best track within 1-2 hours is?

I was really hoping to hit Community motocross but it doesn’t look like they run in the summer?

I just raced Washougal a couple weeks ago and we def want something closer to Seattle. We’re headed to the Sunshine Coast in BC so any track recommendations around there would be rad too, (if they exist) thanks is advance!

Burnt Ridge (Cinebar, WA, about 1.5-2 hrs south of Seattle) has practice this weekend both days. Love this track.

I believe Hannegan Speedway (Bellingham, WA, near the Canadian border) has a Thursday night race this Thursday. Haven’t been there in a couple years but wasn’t great last time.

Pacific Raceways (formerly Seattle International Raceway, southeast of Seattle) might have a Friday night race (not sure of their schedule).

The old Riverdale Raceway (one exit south of Burnt Ridge exit, now Toutle Motorsport park I think?) used to allow weekday practice if you called ahead. Not sure now.

You bet. I also forgot to mention Whidbey Island MX (Oak Harbor). You can find them on Facebook and they’ll typically announce if they’re open/which day(s) by mid-week or so. They’ve been running on Sundays most of the time lately and I’d guess they’ll be open as they were closed this past weekend.

What about moto west? I’m staying in Seattle Saturday and then headed north Sunday after riding, so going 1.5-2 hours south kinda sucks, I see on their website it says they are open Sunday, not many photos so hard to tell what it’s all about. Thanks

Motowest is okay it's pretty rocky to bad opmc wasn't open. It's a club track. Maybe try contacting them they might give you a day pass. But it's out on the peninsula in Port angeles. Maybe take the ferry to Vancouver Island then another to the main land?

If i had a choice I'd hit opmc or burnt ridge over motowest. Community mx is like invitation. You go through their like Facebook to do that.

I have not ridden MotoWest in a while, so the layout is probably different but the first video will show the sandy rocky conditions @SmokinJoe439  mentioned above.

The second video is from a recent ride at Burnt Ridge.
I live 15 minutes from MotoWest and I would still rather drive down to Burnt Ridge 99% of the time.

If your staying in BC for a little while Pemberton mx.just past whistler is a track worth heading to.

You mentioned the Sunshine Coast.there is a practice track open sat/sun every week end.

If your still in BC on July 20 Agassiz mx is having a practice day then.a drive though if your staying on the Sunshine Coast

We personally are thinking of burnt ridge July 12/13

I see your from Humboldt.as in Eureka.

I used to tow a huge barge from eureka with wood chips back to BC

I was on Whidbey Island 3 weeks ago visiting the daughter and sil, so popped over to check out the MX track Sunday am. I couldn't believe how many people were there, quite the moto crowd for the area. Track looked a little dry and tight, but also safe and fun. I wish I had my bike and gear with me to spin some laps...

Community motocross is now called dirtbike nation ran by rob manning, they run in the summer as far as I’m aware, if you’re in that neck of the woods horn rapids (HRMC) is also worth a look

Edit: my goofy ass forgot Community MX opened a new track on the west side of the state, disregard this 😂

+1 for burnt ridge. One of the better tracks up here. Wouldn’t even bother with riverdale.

Thanks, I’m actually staying in Sechelt for Coast gravity park. I saw they had that Moto track there and that’s what inspired me to bring the dirt bikes this was originally just a mountain bike trip. That track in the winter time looks absolutely all time!!!

thanks again to all for the advice probably wind up doing the burnt ranch Sunday on the way, then we’re hitting Coast gravity Park Monday in BC, there’s a bunch of really fun other mountain bike trails south of there that will hit mid week, then back to Coast gravity Park on Friday.

On the way home I’m gonna hit Mountain View in Sandy Oregon for their Sunday practice after Washougal.

Pretty fucking stoked on this trip, for anyone that rides MTB coast gravity park is unreal!

It’s a pretty fun track. Safe and pretty basic but that’s not a bad thing. Very well run with regard to separating classes and policing it. The ridership has really grown there. It’s partly due to the virtual absence of tracks north of Seattle.

You are making a smart choice by going to Mt View, Its not the best racing track because it gets one lined but as far as prep, layout, people running it, it can not be beat. In the fun factor scale, I give it a 20 out of 10.

Riverdale, or Toutle as its called now, is also a good choice (not better though) and I thought they were open 7 days as week. I would make sure you check them out.

Have fun

Burnt Ridge is a great track, beautiful scenery super good prep all the   small, but still super fun and safe. It’s gonna take a while getting used to  in the PNW first couple apps I kept coming around and seen a giant volcano  the distance and couldn’t focus on my corner entry. 😂

I agree on the Whidbey Island track. It's also very rocky but once you're on the track you don't notice them that much. Fun layout that's not too difficult for all riders. It's a little small but they do a lot with the small piece of land they have. They do split it up A/B riders in one class and then C riders. I can't remember if the had a minibike class. Probably did. Anyway you only get about 10 minutes on the track at a time, but if you hit your class you can get 5 or 6 rides in.

I was up in Washington last summer visiting family and got to ride there with a friend I hadn't rode with in almost 30 years. Was great fun.

Horrible shot but it's the only one I took.

Looks like you've got things mostly covered! There is also Popkum MX track outside the vancouver area.

If you end up in the Okanagan area there is lots of world class enduro and MTB here as well. Have fun!

Omg I may have found my favorite track of all time, it’s on the Sunshine Coast of BC. About 3 min from the heart of downtown Sechelt Canada lies the Sunshine Coast motocross club. An epic sand track with huge elevation changes, the track doesn’t have water so it was a little dry but you can tell when this place gets wet in the winter it’s all time. The club guys were super nice and let ya ride 7 days a week.

I’m gonna need to come back this fall, any guys in Washington, this is def worth a 5+ hour drive if it’s wet!!

If you're on the island checked out Campbell river mx. That track is on the north east side of the island kinda far. It's always looked fun. There's also Nanimo track on the island former Canadian national track.

Yea we rode coast gravity Monday and then this Friday. Roberts creek today, there are some insane jumps at both places and it’s been two years since I’ve ridden my downhill bike( ironically at Coast gravity Park August 2023) so I was definitely little shy on some of the bigger hits. Hopefully by the end of the day Friday, I can clean the big line at coast, I did it last time but we were coming off a week at whistler and I was feeling spicy. I also wanna make sure I’m good to ride Mountain View in Sandy Oregon on Sunday. I haven’t been there in over 10 years and I’m really looking forward to that place again.

If you like sechelt at this time of year .its so much better after a good rain.the upper hill section is by far the fastest part of the track as it’s a little harder soil than the lower section which is quite soft during the drier seasons.

You were lucky this time of year as well with being the only rider out.its really dusty, hard to see the track dusty when there is more riders out.

During the weekend it can get busy

Glad you enjoyed a part of my country I call British Columbia
