Some cars only spend a few seconds in the fun zone, my car spends 6-9 seconds in the fun zone 🤣. It's not a lot, but it's what I can afford to have for fun, plus I've had it for 18 years now and I can't get rid of it.

Well, next week it's back to this chassis build. It's been mothballed while both my mate who owns it  / builds it, and, who will, eventually, Race it, has had some 'repairs' done to himself, and, the same for me. I hope I can get the chassis done, before my next 'repair' is up.

So much  work for a couple of a buggered up old men,  clambering about inside the 'maze' that it is, to cut / miter and weld things. It's not easy to do - we should have set it up on a rotisserie / gimble fixture. At least the hoist helps. Though, we'll be tumbling the chassis over on the grass outside the workshop, to get to a few, very difficult bits, to get me and my TIG torch into, near the end of it all.

bodywork in progress - LH from front

/\  : I don't do Bodywork - I Hate fiber glassing, but, will hold things in place while additions are needed to be held in place. I think it's Ferrari F40 replica bodywork - I can never bloody remember it correctly. My mate gets somewhat upset that I can never remember........

023 %282%29

So Many Tubes, So Many Triangulations, So Many Miters,  So Many Weldments. That square section fixture there is to take  vertical rotary 'swaybar' alternatives - front and rear. Shocks - pairs, front and rear,  are driven through the angled push rods, up to horizontal rocker arms - shocks oriented above, inline with vehicle length, horizontally. With the quick removable front and rear body work - eventually -  there'll be No groveling on the ground in the pits for us, at least with shock adjustments.

Next up are the front and rear body work subframes - the front one, holds the radiator horizontally - its mounting plays a large part in the ducting at the front of the bodywork:

Front:

Rear

Made as separate things, to be sacrificial, and, we'll have spares to hand.

The big job for next week, is re-doing the mount for a different transaxle set up than the one pictured - it's wider, and, it's going to be a bastard of a thing to make the mods - I'm hoping I don't have to re-do Everything - as , the Arms etc, come off the original transaxle cradle / cage.

Why my mate decided to go for another type, I'm unsure - well, obviously it must be a better unit. I think the one we originally made the chassis to take, is a 40 / 50k item. I shudder to think what the replacement one cost him. I'm pretty detached from the Car Chassis making I do - as I'm not that into 4 wheels - plus, I'm buggered if I want get enthusiastic enough to spend the money on such projects. This car, is the sort of thing that would set one back 500k  - at least, I'm told. By doing it ourselves, we save a couple hundred K, I think, when I look at what builders charge the rich ratbags that race these things.

Despite, or perhaps because of my 'disinterest '( I make a real, concerted effort to Not get interested in having one of my own ) in 4 wheelers, I do enjoy doing such builds, as it Is something Vastly different to the 2 wheel chassis I've made for quite a few decades. I'm a bit burnt out on that, from doing them for 5 decades now.

69 Z28 Clone (or tribute, or whatever they are calling them these days…). Dad and I did a full subframe-off on it, with the only mods being a Ford 9” rear and a 350 because at the time we couldn’t track down a 302 and a 12”. It started as a 307 Auto car and we put every option that a Z28 would have had.

In its final iteration, I pulled the 350 and the Muncie M21, and built a 383 stroker, then reinstalled it with a Tremec TKO 5-speed, aluminum radiator with electric fans, Aeromotive tank with electric pump, and a bunch of other goodies including changing the Cragar S/S’s and BFG TA’s out for 17” Vintage Wheel Works wheels and some modern rubber. The electric pump was to prep for an eventual swap to EFI but I never did it.

Wish I’d never have sold it. Used it to fund an airplane when I got out of motocross…should have kept the car and stayed with moto…it was cheaper lol.

Going to pick up another Camaro in the next few years as I want to build another one.

Old meets New with a proper respect for the era. NICE!

Isn’t that color real close to the blue they used on the ‘70s Camaro? (And I mean ‘70…the same car as your ‘69…I don’t mean the “ ‘70 and a half”😂)

In ‘70 I remember they had some awesome colors that we called Hot Wheels colors back in the day.

Your car is beautiful.

Restored this turd- owned it 25 years ago, sold it to a friend back in 1999. He drove it for six months, pulled the engine to have it built up for a big turbo and never put it back together. It sat in his dads garage until I bought it back in 2023.

1989 Ford Probe GT- has a 2.2L turbo Mazda engine. Stock boost is like 6 psi, turned up to 12 psi now. It rips pretty good..

Dude. A fucking Probe? 😂

Man, I haven’t thought about those in years. I had a friend that owned one in the color of coral mist. You could not miss it.
