Girls softball is irrelevant because there is no natural ‘half’ for them to broadcast.
I get the frustration, moto isn’t the same as most other sports. But for the ‘free’ broadcast I’d look at it as a bonus more than a slight. And to be honest, it’s probably packaged in the ideal format (1 hour at a time) for most of the ‘casual’ audience.
But for a better comparison, I believe that there are plenty of golf events where the major outlet only telecasts the last two rounds and tennis tournaments that only show a small portion of the actual matches played.

But yes, it is very difficult to compare sports in general because they all have such different styles of play and structure of events. Even the examples I used are not perfect as they occur over multiple days, the competitors don’t play each other directly at all times, etc.
But either way, the NBC ‘free’ moto broadcast is a bonus I think.
I liked it better when we had to wait until the Pro Bowlers Tour was over so we could watch the Carlsbad USGP once a year.
And they would cut away ‘mid moto’ to show bits of things that you never even realized was a sport! It wasn’t called Wide World of Sports for nothing!
The TV package we had 10 years ago was better than it is now.
It would be much better to show the 2nd moto, at least then they can give first moto highlights and the casual fan that stumbles across it will know who the overall winner for the day is. It’s ok, all of you defending this can admit that it’s a bad decision to just air the first moto. JT, Weege and DC aren’t going to hold it against you…

Cable television is dying and the importance of being on there isn’t what it was 10 years ago.
How many people do you think just happen across a MX race they didn’t know was going on NBC then would stay and watch 2 more hours of racing? Anyone that into it is already watching it on peacock.
It’s just a bonus to have a moto on NBC and maybe will translate to someone getting a peacock subscription.

The one that was on Fox Sports? That would sometimes be delayed until later in the evening? Sometimes delayed to the next day? Sometimes pushed to a different channel. Sometimes we'd miss the beginning because the event before ran long? And, of course, there was zero option to stream a replay online (legally).
I don't know how we could have a better TV package than we have right now. Unless you don't count live streaming as a "TV package" since it isn't on broadcast or cable TV. Right now we get the full live broadcast available every week. And we have the full replay available indefinitely. And sometimes it is broadcasted live or delayed on broadcast/cable TV stations.
My only complaint is that if you wait more than about 90 minutes past the start to begin watching, the live broadcast doesn't go back that far, so you have to wait a couple hours until the full replay is available.
Yeah, I don't think my 30-year-old son has watched cable television in 10 years. He only watches streaming shows. But he's not a sports fan. Maybe millenials/Gen-Z who are sports fans watch a little more cable TV than he does? But I don't think many. I wonder what percentage of people under age 35, who don't live with their parents, even have cable TV? 10%?

Also. NFL doesn't have 35 x 4 minutes of gametime. It's less than two motos worth of time over the course of three hours.
I've been streaming just about as long as that. I have friends and family that still have traditional packages that they pay sky high prices for. I just chuckle. Things have changed and aren't going back ever.
I was out on our pontoon all day Saturday and it was painful waiting for the replay to get posted. It was also tough to ignore the condensed highlight shows that showed the class winners. Actually I saw Haiden on was the thumbnail of one of them so I knew he likely won the 250's. I did manage to not know who won the 450's and was all geeked up to watch thinking there would be a batlle royal but Jett had other plans
I remember getting the results from a SX or outdoor the following Friday in the USA Today newspaper and then 2 months later get to watch a 30 minute TV breakdown/race recap on Speed. This wasn't even full heats or mains. What we have now is friggin amazing...quit bitching. You have no GD clue how bad it used to be. Frigging Karen's everywhere.
Yeah, I'm old. I grew up on cable TV. I still like having all the channels, and just flipping through to see what's on. But I pay $325 for my cable/phone/internet bundle. Every time I make that payment I question myself. I have no idea why I still pay for a landline that I basically never use.
Back when you had to have a $150/month cable package to watch the races?
