If Jett wasn't into moto, I think most people would be saying that Hunter is the next great.
He is top 2-4 each moto, has great speed and seems to be consistent.
Suppose also that if the Lawrence brothers didnt moto, we’d be saying that AP the next big thing. He is also that 2-4 guy most times.
Probably a good case for JCoop as well.
Who is the next guy, the 6th place man.
Fair to maybe use Eli as the benchmark.
It is a fun time to be a fan.
Id say fast Freddie would be up there too if Jett wasn't racing.
It would have been a long outdoors season last year if Hunter (as a rookie) wasn’t there to keep Sexton honest.
Last week I was glued to the timing and scoring (when it worked) watching Hunter catch Tomac multiple times, only to drop back a few seconds on each occasion, because of vision/ goggle issues I’m guessing.
I really thought he was finally going to get that elusive overall.
It’s a pity the broadcast didn’t show what was happening- did Hunter have more pace than Eli? Was it Tomac making mistakes? Was it both of them making alternate mistakes?
You know it was only a battle for the lead and overall, why would we want to see it…..
Fairly Fast Freddie would still get lapped.
Couch Expert: Hunter has done incredibly well in his own right, but he needs that 1% extra "send it" mentality. His level of calculated approach and risk/reward is admirable, but its just not going to fly against the elite speed of Jett, Eli, Chase when all things are equal.
I'm a huge fan, and love to see those moments where he does find that extra gear and latch on to the boys - just need to see more of it.

And that’s understandable considering the injuries and setbacks he’s had.
It’s been a long road back from the young fella who beat Osbourne to win the 250 class in his first go at MXdN in 2017, on a RMZ250 of all things.
Its easy to forget when Hunter came to the states it seemed like he was going to be a tragic tale. Uber talented and fast but made of glass. Look at those first couple years of results here. Its not great. And he was off the bike so much when he was finally healthy enough to race sx, he looked lost out there. He was going to be the guy who had a factory ride because of his younger brother. Hes rebuilt himself and his career amazingly. Not sure why some dont like Hunter. Watch that Gypsy interview and tell me he's not a solid dude

What was wrong with that bike in 2017?
Hunter is a great rider, definitely one of the top. Just like many have stated, he just needs that extra drive that seems to be missing. Also, I can’t help but feel like he kinda rolls over for little bro. He defends great against others but him.
I feel like the way he races Jett shows where he is at physically, mentally and with the bike. When he’s confident and things are good he will go for it, and battle him. At the moment I feel like he knows he’s not quite there yet and probably wants to get in behind and get a tow. And Jett just has that speed where he can catch and gap a guy in half a lap. There have been races where has has given Jett all he can. His brother is just too damn good.
