Italian media are reporting today that Wilvo will likely run the Ducati MXGP team in 2026. Gajser was previously rumored to be joining Ducati, but now with Wilvo entering the conversation, there are people saying that Wilvo could run the factory Ducati team with Seewer and Herlings. This has led to speculation that Gajser might now be leaning towards Yamaha instead. Interesting summer coming

Coenen brothers to HRC probably.

Yamaha will most likely change to 2 rider line-ups.

Curious what will happen with guys like coldenhoff, bogers, bonacorsi, benistant and so on.

What happened with Tim and Garibaldi? They’ve been together what seems like forever, crazy to see him switching teams now.

I hope he does, but what is the planning when Ducati will join the party?

Not sure. I just know as of a few weeks ago, the team was working to try and keep him for a while. I would think Ducati would love to have him on their bike

Rumors I've heard: Ducati would've been close to signing with DiCarli in February. Middle while the KTM problems where happening, but I don't know if that is finalized at the end.

Tim Gajser to Yamaha is unlikely (but possible), but it is unlikely because Yamaha gives maximum 700k as salary for a rider. Everything above needs to come from the team owner. In America being Bobby Regan and Brad Hoffman and in Europe for the MXGP team Hans Corvers. If you know that Gajser is one of the few riders that is above the 1 million and even 1.5 million then you see that Hans Covers would need to bridge a very big gap.

Note: Are we sure Wilvo won't run the 450 team of Triumph? Because Thierry Chizat Suzzoni had a deal for 2024 & 2025 to run MX2 and we didn't gotten news from an extension of the contract or expansion towards MXGP class.

Yamaha and Monster need to step up their game in both 450/250 effort. Both classes and results are lacking for a couple off years now and they need a new top dog.

If they dont sign Herlings or Gajser it will be a big loss and no game changer for the brand.

Man, Wilvo going to Ducati would be badass. How about Coldehoff though? He is the main guy in the team and really stepped up this year. I understand that they want to keep Bonacorsi, given his age.

I saw Gariboldi replying on multiple posts of Herlings on IG. Shouldn't say much, but if Gajser leaves HRC it would make room for Herlings to join Honda. Or would it be the Coenen brothers?

I agree that Gajser or Herlings should be priority for Yamaha, would really turn their program around.
But if that doesnt work imo Everts or Langenfelder seems like a good match for Yamaha. Two more years in MX2 left i think. Don't know if they are available contractwise.

Early rumours where that the current Triumph MX2 team will switch into MXGP. The MX2 effort should move into the FH squad, but that was a few months back.

That’s probably the reason why Yamaha will move into 2 rider line-ups, to gain some more money for 2 A riders.

Langenfelder stays with the KTM group, Everts isn’t a top dog either imo..

Interesting article at Gatedrop: MXGP + MX2: Who has factory contracts for 2026? – GateDrop.com

Only riders signed for next year: Langenfelder, Coenen brothers, Lata, Febvre, Valin, Seewer, Reneaux, Haarup, Farres, Koch, Watson

That leaves a lot of open spots in the paddock.

Herlings, Adamo, Rossi, De Wolf, Everts, Gajser, Fernandez, Zanchi, Jonass, Guadaginini, Vlaanderen, Geerts, Forato, Gifting, Reisulis, Benistant, Elzinga, Coldenhoff, Bogers, Bonacorsi, McLellan.. all their contracts expire at the end of the year

De Wolf has a contract with Nestaan through 2026 and I believe Gaudaginini has a deal through 2026 as well.

Husqvarna is owned by Kay Hennekens (Nestaan). It's mostly private owned, not sure how it's arranged with his factory support. Maybe if De Wolf moves up they will run a MXGP program again. They did it for one year with Guadagnini

Not sure about Guadagnini though, how is the 'option' clause formed in contracts?

GateDrop: Just on the contract you signed, is it a one year deal, or is it longer?

Guadagnini: It was one year plus an option of one.

GateDrop: That maybe helps a little bit, take some of the pressure off then?

Guadagnini: Yeah, I mean, I think I’m doing pretty good, so I would love to keep on going every time next year, but it’s still so early, so I didn’t even think about that at the moment.

Is Watson staying with Beta? this would be his 3rd year now. think after the season he's having he may have got a better ride. The Beta clearly struggles of the start, would be interesting to see if he got good starts what he could do.

His deal with Beta takes him through next year. He's never got good starts on a 450, he's not aggressive/committed enough in first turns IMO, though that might be a tactic to stay out of trouble. What he makes up for mediocre starts is strong final laps.

Dang, are there going to be paid rides for all of these guys?

Also, does this push the Coenens move to the US out another couple of years, or is that just unlikely to ever happen now?  I know they still said it was in their long term plan right before this season started, but with Prados struggle and the real possibility of Lucas winning the 450 title, maybe it's off the table permanently?

For sure interesting times with all the rumors.

Fantic leaving the MXGP / MX2 paddock for 2026? Hutten leaving the paddock? Factory KTM leaving the paddock where Decarli will be the only official KTM factory team?
