I thought John and Eli were the only Father/Son combo to win an AMA Amateur National Championship, but after digging through the results at Loretta's I found another combo that did it before them. Any guesses?

I know Flying freckle Oldenburgs dad won a title in the 100 cc class back in the day. I'm not sure Mitch ever won a National title though

Tim Ferry won my class at LL's one year, and I'm pretty sure Evan won a few. So them.

Matt's Mom might have too, but I don't know.

I do know she could ride.

Correct for those of you that mentioned Tallon and Max Vohland, Uncle Tyson got a title too.

How did the Vohland's do it before the Tomac's when Eli is older than Max and Max won his first LL title in 2015 when Eli was on a 450?

Yeah, your correct. Tallon got his long before John and Eli, but Max won his after both John and Eli. Good catch!

I remember being at the Norba National in 1997 in Deer Valley Utah seeing little Eli ( about 4 years old at the time ) sending his scaled replica John tomac  full suspension bike down the ten stairs in the parking lot . I remember thinking “damn that’s kinda gnarly for a four year old “

Sure enough …

Its pretty insane that a father and son reached Mt Rushmore status in two totally different sports. I feel like it would be crazy enough to do that in the same sport.
