The 40th qualifier in the guys 250 class ran 2:31.5. JP ran a 2"32.9 and Ashley a 2:32.5. That's damn close.
Even more eye opening and amazing is In moto 2 on the roughest track of the day AF's fast lap was 2:37.84and JP's was 2:37.2 . Jessicas and Ashleys 2nd moto fast laops were faster then 8 guys could go in the 250 2nd moto. They were faster then #772 R,Noftz , #793 Y.Ikegaya, #976 J.Greco, #565 P.Mull, #446 F.Lettieri, #354 T.Freistat,#288 D.Alexander, & #118 B.Perry.
Also only a 1/2 sec off of guys like Chris Johnson ,Pennington and a few others.
Anyone that thinks those girls aren't fast enough to race the guys is just kidding them selves and scared to admit it. These girls are hauling ass. Real pro speed. They're not just fast "for a girl" any more. They're just straight up fast. The margin is getting thinner every year.
The only shitty thing is after the top three the class drops off quite a bit. Even more so after the top 10. When someone like JP can start dead last and get into the top 5 in 2 laps we have a slight issue. From 1st to 29th there's a 48 sec a lap swing. That's really bad and somewhat dangerous.
I think on off weeks Ashley and Jessica should really give trying to qualify a shot.

Or not?
If you stick Ashley and Jessica on a track with 40 fast guys trying to set a fast lap would they still be in the hunt?

The only woman that did was Italian Steffy Bau in like 2001 or 02 at an east coast national and she was the womens national champ here and several times world champ
and she was probably a little faster than the fastest girls now and she barely qualified and finished in the mid 30's.....
A big reason why I admire Ashley so much is every year she runs two maybe three GP races. I've yet to see Livia or Stefy try coming over here.

First woman to qualify for a National on a 4 stroke*****
Key word is yet. I think it will happen soon though.
I am pretty sure a female has never qualified in a AMA 12/250/450 class. I remember someone trying at High Point. Sucks they would not let them try to qualify and also race in the WMA race too......its one or the other.
Pit Row
I would love to see it happen that would be great for the sport.
Make those guys in 35th gettin lapped look silly!!!

Pretty impressive what the women are doing now although honestly after the top five in WMA they all look like Novice race speed.
She is not too interested in returning as she has more competition in Europe and does not speak English very well.
That privateer was Mike Hacia and it was his first National ever. He was really upset.
Post a reply to: Ashley&JP are 1 sec off qualifying w/the guys.
