If he holeshots and finshes top 5 we will be just fine.

This "fade" stuff is BS, the guy is always in the top 5.

Don't worry about Andrew. He will be fine. You'd better believe he will have some fire in his belly at this one and that Roger will explain it to all them, Andrew included.

I didn’t want to comment on this anymore either (I said all that I wanted to say on the Racer X show), but since it keeps getting brought up I’ll repeat what said on the show in case you missed it:
Short has now finished in the top 3 in points in the 450 class a stunning 8 out of 9 series!! That would be the definition of consistency! I don’t know of anyone off the top of my head who has a consistency record like that! So basically he’s been the 2nd or 3rd best guy for 5 straight seasons. The only series he’s missed the top 3 in points was this year’s SX series, when he broke his ankle at the San Diego SX while trying to pass Millsaps for the lead (he was 4th in points at the time).

A friend of mine who likes to point out Short’s “fading” ability texted me during the 2nd moto on Saturday while Andrew was leading and said “watch, Short is gonna fade again!!” and I replied “you’re right, he faded ALLLLLLL the way back to 2nd!!! Oh the humanity!!” ;-)

It reminds me of the Buffalo Bills in the early 90’s when they made it to the Super Bowl an amazing 4 years in a row, but lost all 4. All the fans said they sucked!! Gee, sorry your team finished 2nd out of 30 teams 4 years in a row, they really do suck lol.

Nobody wants him to win more than I do, but just because he’s getting seconds and thirds instead doesn’t mean he sucks.

Think about it.

Win or lose, Shorty is gonna go out and ride as hard as he can for his country. I am excited for him because there aren't too many people that can say that they've been selected to represent their country as a member of an MXdN team. I'm all but certain that he's fully aware of what's at stake here. Also, the last MXdN thread was hijacked and turned into an MXdN VS. MXoN battle royal. Let's not do that again...please.

Agree short is the most consistant rider there..and it is his home track. USA dont win MXDN because they have the 3 fastest riders they win because their weakest rider is stonger then the other teams weakest rider... other countries have two riders as good as two of the Americans but the 3rd rider is weaker than the US third ridre (on paper) - a great example of this is Germany. Roczen and Nagl are as good duo as anyone and could beat Dungey or Canard but Schiffer due to injuries isn't on the level of short.

France had the best chance and they just lost Pourcel.. and Musquin has hurt his wrist. That said France and Belgium are still not to be discounted they both could win it.

Team USA are favourite and short doesn't need to win.. none of the Americans do ( look at last year Italy and French won most of the motos all weakend but because each of the countries had a weak rider or bad luck the US still won) they just need top be top 3 and that is possible with them all. Tedesco go a 7th and still topped the podium.. you don't need the fastest riders to win the nations just 3 riders near the front with maybe a moto win.

All three Americans can win but they should all be top 3 in their class on home soil and that should be enough given the current status of the other countries.

I smell some serious victory for team USA, and Short ending top ten will do it. So I'm sure he will be fine. I even see a top five in the horizon for him because the Euros will be so eager to beat team USA half of them will crash their brains out...

With CP out, it will be a walk in the park...

Just saying.

I totally agree with everything that you said in this post, very well put.

I agree with Paul, (Short is fast and on the gas) but not so much with mccread,

Fact: the US as won twice as many moto's when compared to all other countries combined over the last 3 years.

MXDN Results

2007
US 3 moto wins

2008
US 2 moto wins
FRA 1 mot win

2009
US 1 moto win
ITA 1 moto win
FRA 1 mot win

The US is fast and consistent, so just get over it and accept that we will win again this year and that despite US rides only caring about Motocross a few months out of the year, they are still the fastest in the world.

Ouch, Paul. You brought up my beloved Buffalo Bills. Still hurts, 19 years later.

I always laugh when I hear someone say that the Bills sucked. 1 made field goal and they were a dynasty instead of a disappointment.

Any other team been there 4 in a row? Hell, most of them have a hard time getting to the playoffs the next year of the year after!

Go Shorty, Go USA!

Who deserves to go more? JS7? Last I checked MXdN is two motos and JS7 only seems to have one in him as of late...

You guys keep forgetting that this a one day do or die event. Sure there are guys that may be faster but with nowhere near the consistency. Short has been racing the last half of the year with a broken toe. He'll get points for the USA no matter what and he's an ambassador of the sport. He deserves to go.

PS: I think Shorty has more speed than Ferry did when Ferry got picked on the 2007 team... Short will do us right.

And if you add the results from 2006 the results are...

US moto wins: 6
Non US moto wins: 6

Short is a fantastic rider, I don't think some of you guys realise just how lucky you are to have him as your so-called 'weak link'. He'll probably win the event for you!

I was leaning over the fence with the rest of the fans today and Shorty was truly a hero and he dug deep. Our boys had what it took today and it was a beautiful thing to watch.
