Agreed, I haven't said anything about the track, other than personally Glen Helen looked better. Anyone who has been to Pala knew that the road was going to be f'ed.

reasons why the pala national will be done after next year. 1. traffic, the locals will not put up with it! 2. these indians are all about one thing money! people going to the national are not going to go into the casino after and spend money, the people who do go to the casino and spend money are going to get caught in the traffic and complain. 3. that road also leads to 3 other casinos hows patrons just got caught in that nitemare, and they will complain. indian tribe's talk... if one casino is not making money "PALA" will here about it, plan and simple. 4.go to # 2 once the indians see all the people there they will raise the lease on the land, the operator will barely be able to pay the fees and the track will fold. 4. CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL ! they knew "OF" the race but didnt think that it would be "THIS" bad. with no traffic control plan in place and no money to pay for "OVERTIME" the will want a plan for next year. 5. everything they (indians) do is for #2 "money", with the road packed you just took money out of the casino's pocket. no "race" makes up for that. the general manager of the casino will show the "tribe" how much the casino lost because of that "race"and that folks spells the end for the national at PALA... good nite now.

They may have had room for spectators but it sounds like all the parking was full.

Wow Capacity and turning away people sounds like a kick ass turn out. It did look full on tv, for a first year event to have that kind of turn out in this econmy is stunning. That bodes well for the sport, I am sure next year they will smooth out some of those things.

It was a great race, great track, great set up and kicked GH's ass

and it will only improve

That was the most professionally set up and run National I have ever been to.
(even though I did see a couple dicks roping off personal areas)

and anyone who says GH had no traffic is a full of shit liar. I sat in GH traffic a few times and that was why you'd see people in their trucks driving through the sand washes and shit.

It's their first year, give it a rest.
They'll have a new plan for next year, like maybe remote parking

couple quotes from a different board about the mess getting in there...

"what a nightmare!!!

buddy talks me into going to Pala... we leave Corona 10:30am... reach the 76 at 11:20... get to Pala gate at 3:30... told the lots are full... no parking (doesn't matter we have VIP parking)... closest place is over 1 mile away... we start walking and quickly give up... head back to the car... drive home...

Won't be doing that again!

There were still miles of cars lined up on the 76 before the track at 4:00....

What a cluster! I knew it would be that way... just hoping that it wasn't going to be...."

"I lucked out & got on the 76 just at 10am, got into the track at 10:45, & another 10 minutes to get parked. I had a VIP parking pass as well, but I got there too late it was full & I had to go to their makeshift parking area, was a little bit of a walk but not too bad. For sure they learned alot from this race, but I think they got the paid attendance they needed to break even or maybe even make a profit. I only stayed for the first motos, because I was aware of what the traffic was going to be like & I had enough of what the "in person" National experience was like after 4 & half hours. I think the track was a success, although spread out a little to much, it took alot of walking to see all of the track. My buddy got on the 76 at 10:15 & it took him 3 hours to get in."

This is the best one...

"friend just said that they couldnt check into their room because alot of employees couldnt get to work because of the traffic...
another said it was 4 hrs to get in, missed the 1st 2 motos and left...."

At least at GH you had some options on where to park and if you knew what you were doing you could be out of there pretty quick, I'm sure there will be some stories about the nightmare of getting out of Pala.

Take a good look at a map and tell us how they can fix this traffic problem..

I was at southwick this year. We showed up at 10am. Parked right out on the main road in front of the school. We stayed till the end of the 250 moto (last moto besides wma) and left. Got to the car, pulled right out on the road and only sat at most 5 minutes in traffic until we got back to the highway. Traffic was not an issue.
It may have been an off year for attendance though.

Just go up Valley Parkway from Escondido, no traffic in, heard from a number of people I know that went that way. I didn't and spent 2.5 hrs going about 5 miles. The parking offsite wasn't there, it was supposed to be $10. We got there and it was filling up and we parked near VIP at $15, sweet. All in all, it was not that well organized for parking. Other than that it was an OK event, didn't find the good viewing areas right away.

Red Bud gets this way but if you know the back roads it's non stop into the parking lot! I personally thought the race was kick ass from my chair!
9/11/2010 6:58pm
man that sucks,, its 2 lanes into and out of Red Bud , we have gone 4 times , got there early never had a problem, leaving was a little slower but traffic moved decently until the interstate then 90 mph lol,

Pala is here to stay. The traffic problems will be fixed, you have my word. This race attracted a great deal of spectators and that's a good problem to have for a first-time event, it will grow and it will be much better.

I was at 15/76 at 11:00 11/2 hour later was less than two miles from freeway!
Turned around, drove back to Temecula and came in on Pala-Temecula road (30mins).
This should be rule1 for any Venue. Park the cars then take the money.
Pala could use both lanes on 76 coming in to facility and pala-temecula for non race traffic heading out of area.
Otherwise off site parking and shuttles will be the only solution.

I remember you saying you probably weren't going to the USGP at Glen Helen as well...

dude i don't know how such huge events could be a drive away from you and you resist them so easily, i could never do that.....it would be my dream to have events just a drive away..lol

Btw the track looked good on tv and the racing was good also...i liked what i saw

I park on the amphitheater side... no lines.

Years ago, we parked IN the sand wash, and drove straight out, no problems. I'm not trying to be debbie downer here on Pala, but, people trying to sell Pala as better than GH, sorry, don't think so. IMO

Pala is a different flavor, all in all it was a good event. If you have some local knowledge you can avoid the traffic. Track was good also, I was suspect as it was man made but it was pretty good in my mind. It was fast, those guys were flying.
