Anyone have a oil dampness or seeping from ignition cover?
Noticed it for first time today. No visible holes, I run a full coverage skid plate anyways.

Anyone pull off the ignition cover? How involved is it? Will be be pulling off hydro clutch while doing so?

Hi everyone - I'm coming off a 22 KTM 450 and this 25 KX450 feels like a jackhammer. I had Pro Circuit setup the suspension for my weight and speed, but it's still beating me up. I'm hoping it will soften up as I break it in (only 12 hours so far). Has anyone had any luck with engine hangers, torque settings, clamps, etc., or are these bikes just that much stiffer? My wrists are killing me. I've messed with clickers and oil levels, but I still get this very rigid harsh feeling from what I assume is the frame. Thanks!

No there is something wrong. The optional engine hangars are very nice imo. Retorque everything is always a must but to be honest sounds like the valving is incorrect. I’ve had Pc do my in the past and I wasn’t happy.

If you chose to go to another company TBT out of Rancho is amazing. And he is local to do test days at GH

I installed Race Tech Gold Valve kits front and rear along with the Kawasaki softer engine hangers over the winter and my bike feels great.  I’ve been raking in contingency every race so far this spring.  I’m very happy with the setup.  As for the motor, I have a PC pipe and run the traction control in the middle setting.  I pulled 3 out of 4 holeshots yesterday, so I can’t complain.  I have a Ride Engineering solid top bar mount to keep the bars from twisting in the clamps if I lay it down in a corner mid-race.  I still get the shock and vibration dissipation advantages on the rubber mounted bars without the twisting when I crash.  I gotta say though, my bike never had the vibration I see people complaining about here.  I absolutely love this bike.  At 6’3”, the adjustability of the cockpit is so crucial.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a Vortex from TD. Any current feedback on it?  Keefer and many others say thumbs up, but I’ve seen some negative posts in the middle of this thread that give me some doubt. Any thoughts?

(Currently pc ti6 pro, airbox hacked, and dome filter, plus good fuel is my setup)

I’ve ridden both TD and XPR. Personally In my opinion they are both good tunes but I preferred XPR. Both increase power dramatically but I felt the XPR just felt less light switch feeling and more broad. But you are doing a great upgrade regardless who you go with. Kinda like Chevy vs gmc lol

Good luck

I run the XPR Vortex. Love it. I have 2 bikes & won't ride without it. I swap it bike to to bike if i'm riding my other bike.

Same.  I've run the Vortex on my 2022 and now have it on my 2024.  I originally had Twisted and now have XPR maps.  I didn't switch for any other reason than just being curious.  Both work fantastic and are a big difference compared to stock along with the ability to change maps or make slight tweaks is awesome

^ Thanks for Vortex info.  I grabbed a used one from on here done by TD.  I may end up changing fuels though. TD said I could run my prefereed Sunoco GTX260 with some leaning of the screws, but said better gains would be had with T4 or Pro6.

I had issues with vp/mrx02 which left a bad taste in my mouth last year, but may follow their advice and go whole hog and pony up for pro6 I guess since that’s what the previous owner used.

What fuel are you guys running?

Thanks again

I run T4.  I don't think it boosts performance in a significant way, but it is consistent and I don't need to worry about getting a bad batch from the pump.  I'm anxious to try T4+ on my next order.

If you have an X and leave it on the kickstand or use a rear stand that leans the bike over it’s probably your clutch slave cylinder, mine did the same.

I’ve always run 50/50 race gas mixed with super unleaded because the last Honda I had would detonate on straight super unleaded on hot days.  This last weekend, I ran out of VP and had to run straight 93 octane from Costco.  With the long lines at the pumps, I figure Costco gas is probably the freshest around.  I gotta say, I noticed no difference at all in my ‘24 450.  I generally struggle with starts, but holeshot 3 out of 4 motos this weekend.  I’m not saying the pump gas helped, but it certainly didn’t hurt anything.  I’m done buying race gas for the time being.

Famous engine builder Don Vesco told me a long time ago that an engine makes the most power with the lowest octane fuel you can run without detonation.

Barely used and selling with bar mount as well.

honestly i just run pump gas. I ride a lot & can't really justify the added cost of race gas. My 450 is crisp, plenty of power. Do not need any more performance in that area. It would be nice for durability & wear. I rebuilt both my top ends at 40 hours & they both looked pretty solid. Little carbon build up that got all cleaned up but no major issues. I also do not let gas sit. always fresh, from a gas station that has plenty of traffic. you go to an off the grid gas station there is a higher chance the gas has been sittin there longer.

I have been considering 50/50. They started selling VP 100 out of a pump near me for 9.99 a gallon. i just do not really know if it's worth trying to run half half.

Unless your bike is detonating on pump gas, it won’t make a bit of difference unless you run a more expensive oxygenated fuel.

thanks guys! Yeah can't really spend enough to go get the expensive stuff so pump gas it is. I do not believe it is detonating. bikes rippin & i'm real good at end of motos.

For the record. Last year when i rode my bike in the summer i did get a hint of detonation. I have been adding a gallon of 110 leaded to my every 4 gallons. It has gone away.

Man I used to be okay with pump or T4, but I just had my TD Vortex remapped for Pro 6 and I honestly can't believe the difference it made. The engine feels much more free-revving, almost makes the bike feel lighter. I am shocked with how much better the bike is just by switching fuels.

I know you do a lot of NGPC/WORCS type racing, so you'd be burning a shit ton of it and might not be able to justify the cost.

Thanks for the fuel insights and opinions.  After reading the above post and discussing things with Twisted, I’m going the pro6 route.  As an old, broken, worn out slow vet, it’s the only option!

I run Renagade mx4 and notice the bike is a bit crisper. In all reality I enjoy the smell more than anything. I have about 40 gallons left and I think  I’m done running canned fuel once it’s gone.  Pretty lucky I have several places that sell race gas on the pump.

Damn that’s crazy. Yeah burning through quite a few gallons at those races. Is it about $200 got 5 gallons of pro 6?

Yeah, I think retail is $215 for a 5 gallon jug? For some reason a shop that sells stuff for dirt oval racing near me carries it for $160. But I am just racing moto, don’t burn through a ton in a weekend like those races.

Got my used vortex today.  Learned a lesson today as well.  Buy new from a dealer!

Seller- member here- sold it to me for a great price. Had excellent communication. Shipped in a flash.  Actually 2 day shipping so I’d be up and running asap   Awesome!  Right?  Well, not really

The issue.  It’s a dud!  I questioned seller and they stated the ecu had the same issue and the tuner fixed it once before l… and for me to call the tuner.  Ok…….  I stated I didn’t buy from tuner and didn’t want to waste their time, and felt “had” over the deal, and asked for a return.

Seller said no return, and I was not had.

So now I took time off work to ride, have fuel being delivered to the track, and have a brick of an ecu.  Should have just bought new.

Will call tuner on Monday to see if I can pay him to look at or reprogram this thing, but have a sour taste in my mouth. I expect to have as much or more into this thing as a new one after it’s all said and done… and might even just buy a fresh one for piece of mind.  Have to see what tuner suggests to do.

We will see how things go, but a bummer a member on here would not back up their sale especially after having the same issue as I described. I’ll see how it shakes, but I’m upset and not sure if I want to post a “buyer beware” post or not.

Lesson learned I guess

Took advantage of the rebate and the lack of new bike sales locally and picked up a new one. Time to get to work.

What was your OTD? Was quoted 8600 OTD back in March but they were still waiting for the stop-sale fix.

Picked up the last 2024 leftover that Mid-Ohio Powersports had last month. $7400 OTD no haggling at all to get that price either.IMG 1600 3.jpeg?VersionId=QHvDxsv9Fxm6k4yBXMr5nVkdy

agreed. I used to run Pro Circuit Suspension as well. It was essentially set up for A1. I ran it for 2 years & i switched to precision concepts & love it. I'm never more than 1-2 clickers from my base setting & i go ride & race in all sorts of conditions. On Pro Circuit i had my shit as soft as it would go & it worked okay but i was out of adjustment.

Are you riding this weekend? i'd possiblyyy swap bikes for a lap or 2 with you if you wanted.

Engine Hangars help the vibration, x trigs do as well but it's more in the bar mounts system, i run the soft green elastomers. Also run sag low, 106. I tried to go to 103 cause idk social pressure & norms but never felt as good so i gave up on that, back to 106 & shew.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll keep working on the setup and retorque everything. I’m sure getting use to an aluminum frame is going to take some getting use to as well, I’ve been on orange for over 10 years.

I should also note that my biggest complaint is on smaller chop and square edge holes. It’s much more tolerable everywhere else.

I had a 2019 setup by PC (revalve the fork and shock) and loved it.  I have 25 SR now and was having comfort issues today on the chatter and braking bumps.  Feel like I need more comfort in the front end, but love how that fork takes big hits Smile
