Not saying there isn't racial tension and violence in SA, but trumps labeling of the memorial as a "burial site" and holding up pictures of body bags from a slaughter of black women in Congo unrelated to anything in SA doesn't help his case, it's just not truthful.

Is there actual evidence of mass killings of white people in South Africa? I’ve never heard any of it at all. When people on the left say there’s a genocide in Gaza, whether you agree or disagree with that, there’s obviously thousands killed so they have the bodies as evidence. I’ve just never read anything about the genocide of white people in South Africa in recent times at all. If someone has a link for me I’d love to read it. It’s also an insane amount of hypocrisy by this administration to allow in white South Africans as refugees escaping a crisis and telling people from other nations facing the same situation to go back where they came from.

I'm willing to defer to your expertise in hypocrisy, you have far more experience than I do. I would point out, though that the current administration has issues with people claiming asylum AFTER the fact, and not BEFORE requesting admittance to the country.

I’ll be the first to tell you the hypocrisy of many political ideologies and parties. It’s not isolated to the current administration. It just seems many here can’t or won’t admit anything negative about him at all. It’s wild.

The older I get the more gratitude i have for my circumstance growing up too.

Born in a great country, to solid parents, at a decent time in history... I wish everyone could have been this lucky.

Who downvoted AKW's post.   I know we all are here rattling sabers most of the time,  but that's one post anyone in the USA should upvote.

Sandberm656,   ditto that my friend.

Completely agree. What I’m saying is when people have made that request for immigrating to escape a danger in other African or South American or Middle Eastern countries they’ve been denied, but the white South Africans are being welcomed with open arms. If the roles were reversed I’d imagine many here with have a huge issue with it, and I would too.

Back in my skydiving days,

Every summer you'd have European, and other skydiver's from all over the world, travel through America, hitting all of the big drop zones, Deland, Zepherhills, Spaceland TX,(my DZ) then usually out to Perris Ca.

So I opened my home to two travelers from So. Africa for a few weeks.

Probably the summer of 89, or 1990.

Even back then they were saying that the people living out in the plains, huts, and nomadic natives were getting militant, claiming a right to the civilised regions.

And they were invading the fringes, committing burglaries, thefts, stealing livestock, etc...

So it's been Happening for decades.

No, he's just parroting the MSM talking point regarding the south African refugees.

He only has assigned premises.

Ive spoken with 3 different Sth African ex-pats 1 on 1 in 3 separate occasions.
I asked is what you hear with crime true.
They all spoke similarly in detail about real issues. Intelligent high-up professional people who i can tell are generous people. You can see it that their hearts are heavy talking about the decay of their homeland.

Evidence of what exactly though? Racial Genocide?

As Boomslang will tell you, me & my family have owned property and land in South Africa for decades and I spend a LOT of time there. I've never seen or heard of anything remotely on the scale of what was claimed by Trump yesterday.

Do some of the black population resent what the white population has? Yes. Are there instances of violence against whites because of that? Probably. But as the distribution of wealth hasn't really changed since the end of apartheid you can kind of see why even if you think it's completely wrong - like I do too.

I spend a lot of time in Botswana and Namibia too and I can tell you that the attitude of the black populations towards whites like me is refreshingly neutral - because unlike black South Africans they don't have the hang up of apartheid.

I'm not downplaying how people like Boom feel. It's a sensitive issue and I just wish Trump would of handled it that way.

Elliot has good knowledge of SA and his family, I guess own some beautiful land in one of the best places in SA. We has spoken on a few occasions and Elliot with his family have done good with that land. I am so happy for them.

Our government with not touch his land for obvious reasons......

We have serious trouble here....

The African population is growing at the same rate at which rats breed and they consume everything in the same rapacious manner at which a donkey eats carrots.

Us white minorities and where we live are being surrounded by squatter camps and we are robbed  burgled, raped and murdered on a daily basis...

I have nothing but respect for Trump...me and my family would love to come to the USA.

Absolutely no need to answer this question Boomslang, but the last comment in this screenshot has me intrigued:

I'm also thinking you mean "will not touch" so I may be interpreting incorrectly.

You speak from the comfort of anecdotal privilege while ignoring the lived trauma and mounting evidence of racial violence targeted at white farmers and rural families in South Africa. Saying “I haven’t seen it” doesn’t erase the murders, torture, and brutal home invasions that have become tragically common—many of which go underreported or are dismissed outright because they don’t fit the media’s preferred narrative.

You admit there’s resentment and targeted violence, then minimize it by wrapping it in the justification of unequal wealth distribution—as if that makes it understandable. That’s morally bankrupt. Resentment is one thing. Systematic slaughter and land seizures without compensation are something else entirely.

Trump spoke plainly because politicians dancing around the truth have allowed this to fester. Pretending it’s not happening or blaming history for present atrocities is cowardice. You can spend all the time you want in gated communities or sipping sundowners in Windhoek—but that doesn’t give you license to dismiss the fear and grief of those who’ve buried family members simply for being white landowners.

This isn’t about how blacks feel toward whites. It’s about whether a country tolerates ethnic violence under the guise of “redistribution.” And right now, South Africa’s leadership is toeing a very dangerous line. If you're too blind—or too politically polite—to see that, step aside and let those willing to confront reality speak.

To be fair I specifically acknowledged how Boom and white South Africans must be feeling. It must be terrible. All I can tell you is what I see or don't see from my own perspective. That it doesn't chime with others' perspectives doesn't mean I'm saying they're wrong.

This topic is getting me down and I do not have the patience to sit here and type with my thumb to answer every question.

Simply put, SA is in a mess due to to many destitute folk who have no hope and it does not help that they keep having more kids.

I don't have much but everything that I have has come from hard work. I look at the rich guys, their nice cars, big house, mx bikes and I'm happy for them. They have done well to be able to afford those nice things. I don't get jealous or resent anyone for their success...black or white.

Most africans, not all of them think differently. They want all the nice things but cannot grasp the fact that it takes education and hard smart honest work to achieve your goals. It has been 30 yrs since democracy...how much more time do they need? When will they stop blaming us white folk for their failures?

I would love to be able to sit with you all and tell everything about this country face to face.

This country is beautiful and has great cuisine. The climate is as close to perfect as can be but we have challenges and sadly no clear solution.

A good place to start is to reward folk for not having kids. Currently, there are grants given to woman who have kids...more kids =more grants...and it aint right. These kids grow up destitute and the cycle repeats itself. Uneducated folk are great for the corrupt government. Give them a t shirt, a promise of land, free meat and beer and you get their vote come election time.

I'm tired of this....

My parents sent me to live with my aunt and uncle in Randburg in 1982 & 1983. Randburg is part of Johannesburg and was the hub of Motocross. Most of the fast kids, Albertyn, Dunmore, Herring and many more lived there.

Anyways, Johannesburg was awesome. The cities were clean, well policed (apartheid days) and everything worked.

I would not set foot there now. The place is a dump. It's like a mountain of trash riddled with serious crime. People live in gated communities with electric fences and barbed wire everywhere.

I don't approve of apartheid but looking back now I can understand why the Afrikaaner government had apartheid in place. They could see what was coming.

The good black and good white folk are in a difficult position here. Nothing will change for the better because the majority of folk, the uneducated, destitute, lazy, criminals etc will keep voting for corrupt leaders.

As a South African I can agree that these are just perspectives and both can be true at the same time.

Having a rational, productive online discussion about politics is near impossible though. Too many opinionated people want to get their teeth in.

What I’m sure most rational people can agree though is that a media “meeting” between out of touch billionaires and politicians isn’t really going to paint an accurate picture. Its all about using emotive words to paint the extreme picture. The last thing we should do is perpetuate those extremes.

Boom, do you think that apartheid’s effects immediately disappeared in 1994?  And while you sort of talk about the ‘good’ parts of apartheid, do you recognize that it was a completely different thing to one of the majority who were legally prohibited from truly participating in society for so many generations?

I agree that the current state of affairs is a mess in South Africa. But no one should ignore the fact that it didn’t just magically become a mess and that it was a wonderful utopia 40 years ago. It may have been for a fortunate few, but the majority had almost no rights whatsoever, from land ownership to representation in government and much more.

I also agree that in principle you can’t fight racism with more racist policies, how would a society correct for the policies that began over a century ago that kept the majority in a constant state of abject poverty and effective bondage for generation after generation?

That is the nearly unanswerable question that needs to be answered, and I don’t think that anyone can do it in a way that would please everyone.

It's interesting that after a couple hundred years of Western influence on the rest of the world really only Asia has shown motivation for embracing and replicating our culture. Africa, Arab countries and lots of South America have been much more reticent. This may have to do with less Western colonialism in Asia, our cultures starting off closer, or in the case of Korea and Japan big events that kind of restarted their cultures in the 20th century. Our efforts in the 20th century to influence countries into replicating the western way of life have not been entirely successful.

I think Western resentment is also very underrated among some cultures. With China and Russia increasing their influence in Africa I don't know if they will find them better than us.

Your premise is that every person should automatically get asylum?

No I don’t believe everyone who claims asylum should have it granted.

So, some people from below our southern border could legitimatel  be denied asylum?

Why did you write what you wrote in your original post?

Yes. Absolutely they could.
