Not much you can do other than some sort of extended chest protector or something like a kidney belt over your tummy.
Both will be uncomfortable so I guess most folk just go without...
Old school kidney belts might help some. My Leatt 4.5 chest protector covers a little below ribs.
protection? LMAO .. Only pussies want protection!
Ya, amazing how nobody gaf about protection now days. My solution would not be an f'n kidney belt, LMAO, it would be.... wait for it... nearly there............... bark busters! the kind that wrap around the end of the handlebars. No rocket science needed, cheap, easy to install, and would eliminate 100% of all puncture injuries via handlebar ends (and levers too).
But dats for pussies, so f dat!!!!
Snocross guys wear TekVests which are kevlar and are meant to prevent studs from penetrating your vital parts. I wear one when snowmobiling as they will stop sticks and branches from piercing your lungs or stomach.

EVS Celtek kidney belt here. Would rather have something there for protection than nothing. Plus as a vet rider it helps support lower back ngl
Wasn't there a company rebranding or remarketing bull riding vests for mx? I imagine they would be pretty effective for this
Get one of those bull rider vests.

I saw a guy fall off and while on the ground the bull jumped again and landed with one of it's hooves on the guy's nuts. The vest didn't help with that but it looks like it would have helped if the bull got him in the torso or abdomen. Those guys are tough and or dumb.
Looked into these TekVests, dam they're expensive! I'd assume they don't breathe very well either for warm summer moto use? I've taken a bar to the gut once or twice and it does not feel good. Would be interested if anyone else can chime in on other ideas, cuz I'd consider a vest or something of the sorts over a new chest protector; I'm in the market for one anyways.
I would poke around the website and find the version that best fits your needs. A while back I remember another company that made air vests for kids that a lot of the mini riders around me were wearing. Can't remember the name though...
6 years ago I had a minor crash but took the handle bar to the gut. Lacerated kidney.I was wearing a kidney belt and chest protector. I ended up buying a fox chest/back protector that covers the gut. I can't remember the model. However it was very uncomfortable and no longer wear it. I still have it somewhere . If I find it I will take a pic.

These are what I was thinking of. It looks like the first link has vest with pockets for cooling packs.
I have a Leatt 6.5 pro CP. Feel like stormtrooper. It does cover a lot, but there’s room for improvement.
Great people out of Texas that I met years ago at the Mini O’s.
They are all hand made in TX.
Bubble wrap?
*bubble wrap over a phone book
Bubble wrap and phone books are too bulky for my 55 year old gut.
I have contacted 5 MX companies lately to give away my motocross safety product idea for "free". Non of them were interested in our safety.
This made me crack up. I was anticipating it to say his hoof went square into his chest and he got right back up, but the hoof missed the protector totally and doesn’t illustrate the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of the vest. 🤣🤣🤣
Pit Row
I highly doubt the handlebar punctured in.
I had the exact same injury I just smacked my gut really hard on the cross bar out in the bush. Rode out to a road got there passed out and woke up in a pool of my own vomit in the rain to my mate yelling at me because he thought I was dead.
