This weekend since its an off week for the ama series before motocross starts up again I figured Id watch the mxgp race to get my moto fix… Well come to find out they also have an off week this weekend. Whos genius idea was that? This is the perfect weekend to tap into the entire ama motocross/supercross fanbase and get them to check out some gp racing. Instead they have an off week too? That seems like such a stupid idea, literally just put it 1 week earlier or 1 week later so it doesnt line up. This was the perfect opportunity to get some new fans to check out the series and maybe a few of them would have stayed as fans.
The crazy thing is it happened during the supercross series as well not that many weeks ago. After the mxgp series had started up for this year there was a week where the sx series had a weekend off. This time I and many other people were like sweet Ill just watch the mxgp race this weekend as well. Nope… They both had their off week on the same day back then too. I have no idea why both series would time it so their off weekends always seem to line up, but it seems like a massive missed opportunity. Hopefully they change this going forward.
Whats up with the timing of mxgp off weeks coinciding with ama off weeks?

You, and many others, could have broadened your horizons this weekend and watched any of, I think, 5 European / Foreign National races (German, Dutch - Febvre won that Title this weekend - French, Spanish and British), at least 2 or 3 of them were streamed for free.
An All Japan Race was / is on, too.
They are always interesting to watch. Or, catch up with after the events.
It's a Big World out there, and a Lot of Racing is happening.
* Just those Euro /Brit National races show what they, the FIM, and the various Federations, face with the difficulty of scheduling Major National Races in among the GPs. And, they, are of more concern to those parties (and participants - the Riders , Teams, Sponsors ), than MXGP / US National and SX race clashes.
Yea thats true from a spectator perspective, but from the promoters perspective they should still time the two premier series so the off weeks dont coincide.
How? MXGP is the other easily available series in the US. How do I even go about watching a French national?
Spanish and German races are live and free on YT

I watched Bud Feldkamp's Motofest at Glenn Helen live on MXA's YouTube on Thursday and Saturday. FastEddy had a thread with links to the channel and results page.
You can't. French Elite championship is not broadcasted.
How?
You make an effort, and check YT, or go to sites like Vice, MX Large, and others for info on what's on.
While I was in my workshop this evening, setting up some jobs I watched the replay of the All Japan MX round, for free. Geeze those Japanese commentators, are excitable blokes. I can't understand a word they are saying, other than 'Jay Wilson', but you can get English captions to follow it.
It just takes a small amount of initiative / effort, and you can watch racing from many places around the World.
Cripes, I'm near on the most 'untech / Non Digital / completely Analogue of people on this planet, yet I can find racing to watch on 'off weekends', and much of the time, it's FOC.

So is the British championship
All thats great, but I dont want to watch those races. I want to watch the mxgp series when US races arent on and they just so happen to always make it so their off weeks are the same as the ama off days and its annoying. It sucks for fans and its also bad for business, so they should fix it.
Sucks for my wife and my mom that the dead weekend was right after Mother’s Day weekend. I could have been a much more attentive father and son had it been a week earlier!
Theyre doing it again next week… so dumb. If mxgp was on next week when sx is off ppl would tune into mxgp. Idk whos making these schedules but jesus.
